Very unusual to see PAL using the A330 to LAX!

This flight has a stopover in Seoul, South Korea & Honolulu, Hawaii as this aircraft had a range of 11,750km which is 7-8 km short of a direct MNL-LAX flight

I heard that all PAL 777s are undergoing maintenance so they had to use their 330s

This things been operating PR112 via Seoul and PR 113 via Honolulu for the last few days. PAL IIRC is down one 77W, RP-C7781. It went to Victorville or Mojave recently but not sure why it was there

It was retired and returned to its lessor

7781 was returned to its lessor as a part of the restructuring of the flag carrier. They also returned four A350s to their lessors which are now being operated by Lufthansa

PAL should have ordered the A330-900NEO back then. The NEO could fly from LAX to Manila nonstop even with some headwind

It came from Seoul, not sure if it's cargo or passenger but definitely rare bird for us at LAX

Whenever PAL is short on 777s due to maintenance, they deploy their A330s to LA, albeit with refueling stops both ways with PR 112 stopping in Seoul and PR 113 stopping in Honolulu

Yeah until it crashes in the ocean before making it to LA. Bro, A330-300 have only 11,750km in range.

I agree with you but unless if the A330-300 carries extra fuel tank, then it can go longer range
