Philippine languages are related to Bahasa Indonesia and other languages in Indonesia. Your consonants are more complex because of [c] and [j] compared to ours which do not have those, but they're not that far in sound ;) The huge differences of course are the grammar, words and their meanings

Before i have never heard of this group....i am now very very impressed with their performance. It toiched my heart. I was in tear when attempted the chorus. Bravo. It was already a beautiful song and u guys made sound its best.

thanks for uploading this video, even though it was taken "clandestinely", I am truly grateful.. Thank you for the Madz for this beautiful rendition.. I was in the concert hall that night, and I was beyond words, just giving standing ovation, with tears streaming down my face.. God bless all the singers, and Sir Mark of course :)

I am utterly impressed by this Choir! The song is in Malay Language and yet Philipinos that speaks Tagalog is able to pronounce the words clearly and significantly well. There were a little difference in the soloist way of singing certain bars when compared to the Soloist in ITB Choir. EXCELLENT ! Good job ! They don't sound like Philipinos at all which shows their level of excellence in voice imitation to suit the mood and melody of the piece. Really impressed!

we all came from malay race maybe there's a lot of alterations in some region but some vocabulary remains the same though the construction of sentence vary love from my south east asian brothers and sisters

I’m a Filipino (same Malay race) and was in Indonesia the first time I heard it live and performed by Andra and the Backbone. I and my girlfriend (wife now) instantly fell in love with this song, and still listen to it once in a while even when we are in Japan now. I miss Indonesia and this song!

this is 8 yrs too late but to answer your question, my countrymen don't really listen to songs other than western (english) and opm (original pinoy music)...that's why it's difficult for us to speak your language...or sing your songs.

Being a Filipino who has lived in Indonesia for 3 years, my answer is NO it is not difficult for us to learn it. Bahasa Indonesia shares a lot of similarities with Filipino language, especially Ilocano (the dialect in the northern part of the Philippines).

Because before that I saw many Filipinos say Indonesian has similarities word Especially Ilocano and Mindanao one, It's no surprising to me because we have same root language, but idk bout the pronunciation one

@@blanc6519 In my experience it's pretty much the same except how we pronounce letter "C". Indonesians pronounce it as "ch" while Filipinos pronounce it with what is "s" or "k" in phonetics. In general, Indonesian and Filipino words are pronounced as spelled. We have words that have multiple meanings depending on intonation or where the stress is, but in writing they are spelled the same way, unlike your "bawah" and "bawa" that are spelled differently. One major difference though is with addressing people to denote respect or formality. In Filipino, you is ikaw/kayo, him/her is siya - regardless of who you are talking to. So I don't worry much about being conscious with replacing kamu with Anda and dia with beliau in more formal conversations because everyone will just be ikaw and siya. Grammar wise, Filipino language is more complicated because we have tenses for verbs while Bahasa Indonesia does not. I hope this helps answer your curiosity 😊

@@yellirio910 didn't mean to be rude just a little correction about bahasa Indonesia, sometimes the word of "kamu" is not needed when we talk to older people, for example like "Ibu Ayu pergi kepasar" or for strangers is "bapak ingin memesan makan apa?" and for the verbs word we have too usually started with "me,meng,be etc" for example "Mikhaila memasak sayur" Mikhaila (Subjek). me+masak (verbs/predikat), sayur (objek) but as you know being Filipino in Indonesia for 3 years i guess you know, sometimes the grammars wise (S-P-O-K) it's not implemented here in daily convers 😁
