The Phililpines has gotten more expensive than it used to be, its environment is like Thailands but actually not quite as good but theyre asking more than they used to and more than Thailand, without the ladies its not good value for money.

Question for CC....lets say you were hitting 50 and had 100 grand in the bank. If you were to put 25k of that into a Thai bank you'd get a Thai retirement visa. Lets assume just a small outside income of around $100 per month. You'd have to live on that 75k for 12 years before applying for your Social Security at the age of 62. With the outside income you'd have just over $600 a month to live on. Could you do that? To keep the retirement visa you couldn't touch that 25k until you could start showing the SS coming into an account. This might also make a good subject matter you could delve into...a series even. Part 1 thru 10, compare other countries. Do it the cheap charlie way, not these guys living on their stock investments. Maybe talk about downsizing before the move, opening up a Thai bank account if you've done that. So so many guys hitting 50 and on their second divorce and paying for two houses for their X's, they might be looking for a way out.

Good hotel, I stayed in that room. Only the girls in the bar in front of the hotel yell all the time "Viking Sir", "Sir Vikingggggg"!!!! If your girl leave the hotel, they call you if you are ok and not be killed. So nice and good service.

A Room With A View of the ocean or mountains is what I was expecting. 2000 pesos a night is not cheap. Vegas rooms are cheaper. I wonder how much are Cebu rooms.🤔

That had to be from a while back it is all closed now since covid19 started! A friend of mine lives there and has been keeping me up to date on what is happening in Angeles City! I guess a lot of the bars are not going to reopen. Only a couple have so far. There are no tourists there now, only a few locals to go to the bars that are open now. Very quiet on walking st!

Philippines has had one of the strictest lockdowns of any country with people not even able to go from one province to the next, roadblocks and nationwide curfews. All this despite few to none covid cases in the country. There is even talk the Philippines government wants to put ankle bracelets on foreigners and future tourists to track their movement. Clearly the government their has lost it's marbles.

Regular budget hotels range from $12-$35 per night. It varies depending on location and some of the cheapest hotels are not listed online, have to find them in person. I spent 3 months there last year, generally had good experience with the hotels.
