Philippines President Marcos Warns China Threat Has Grown

#philippines President Ferdinand #Marcos Jr. said the threat to his nation from #China’s sweeping claims in the South China Sea is growing but argued that his government’s efforts to assert sovereignty over disputed areas aren’t meant to start a conflict by “poking the bear.”
“We are trying to keep things on an even keel,” Marcos said Tuesday in an interview with #Bloomberg Television’s Haslinda Amin at the presidential palace in Manila. The challenge, he added, is that “since the threat has grown, we must do more to defend our territory.”

Marcos Jr said the right thing. But bringing in the US was very wrong. The US only want war. China want to look good. So the Philippines would do well to have dialogue with China. It will take time, extended bargaining, to come to an amicable arrangement. The process would be frustrating, but patience and a cool head should prevail and the outcome worth it. The US solution is whack, not talk. The Philippines should know that the US do not have their interest at heart, they don't care for the South China Sea dispute, all they want is war with China, and the Philippines is the means to it.

Those disputed reefs belong to China after all( since ancient times). So unnecessary to fight over them. PH should be content to develop all the other many undisputed reefs east south & within PH. Xueling don't play that card if that is the case then mainland China belongs to Portugal because Portugal discovered China. The Philippine Government has 3 official documents from my understanding the Treaty of Paris 1, Treaty of Paris 2 edited version and the Washington Treaty. US official had to go back a number of time and sit down with Spanish Officials to edit and clarify any issues. The US emphasized to the Spanish Officials to include in wording all the outer lying island groups like the Spratly islands lying outside the boundary lines around the parameters/boundary lines of the Philippines.

Mutual Defense Treaty was signed on August 30th 1951 by there representatives in Washington DC. The treaty has 8 articles requiring both nation to support each other if another party attacks the Philippines or the United States.

Wat he said r all opposite of wat they r doing now. They never step in to have diplomatic talk with china, instead they r doing things that may lead more tension. He is really fond of making gud speech to the public to make it appear that he is calming the conflict in south china sea but actually n recently he was instructing that Philippines will longer give notice to china when they R going to have resupply mission to BRP WHICH actually was their agreement b4 w/ china. Did Mr Marcos do it right? or is he making the crisis worse? weigh his words n action
