Her real name is actually Maali. She eas gifted by the Sri Lankan government when she was just 3 years old in 1977. I got the chance to see her once in the early 90s, she was already alone that time. RIP Mali

Erm sorry but they had no choice, the only elephant that lived that long was Mali and the others that tried.. well you could say they were unsuccessful and didn't make it for the long run and thats our most prized animal because of the fact i stated so yeah. In Pakistan we had two elephants in Islamabad (Pakistan Capital)zoo. The female elephant died and the male elephant went crazy. The government decided to open the cages of the elephant and give him bigger space and even a water pool. But after some years the government decided to set him free and he was set free in the Jungle of Uganda.....💝

Lack of funding. We cant release the elephant into the wild due to the fact its been in captivity for so long, we cant acquire another elephant due to funding issue Its a dead end.

@@AnimaRandom It's never a dead end. She could have be sent to an elephant sanctuary! Instead, she was kept there because they were making money by keeping her in the zoo. Trying to justify cruelty is worse than cruelty itself.

I went to the Philippines Manila Zoo before me and my family immigrated to Canada, and i saw Mali. I was absolutely amazed with the elephant, and hearing this makes me remember going to the Manila Zoo. R.I.P, Mali 🕊️ You amazed me..

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Zoos should not exist! Animals are abused and isolated there constantly and this just proves it! I hope one day zoos will be banned and animals can live in peace and happiness! We need to be doing more to create safe places for animals in the wild and we should build more animal sanctuaries too, where those who cannot enter the wild can be protected 😢❤️ Also, Rest In Peace Mail 🕊️🕊️❤️❤️😭

Common mistake , generalizing. Not ALL zoos are like that. We should instead focus on making laws that zoos have to obey in order to keep animals comfortable.

she actually lived a long life though alone, back then when we had a school field trip on the manila zoo i got a chance to see her and now we had another field trip to that zoo i was excited to see her again but i found out she died when we got there.
