As I remember, growing up there, kids can already harmonize just by ear! It was kid's play where we just like singing together and harmonizing following what's on tv or the radio. I remember, one friend was so good that we'd let her sing on the videoke, a song she'd never heard before and just reading the lyrics on the video with the tune. And she'd be singing like she had sung that song for ages already... She also hated sheet music and would cheat her piano teacher that she was reading it when playing the piano. It was similar to how Lea Salonga and Monique Wilson learned the Miss Saigon songs in the auditions in 20 minutes tops according to the producers... Back then, I thought nothing of it until I lived abroad and was flabbergasted that music was only part of the school day for a kid if you are a member of the band or choir or you were in a school specializing in performance arts. In the Philippines, it was normally everywhere in all schools - part of the lessons, part of a project, singing and dancing while playing, programs here and there, etc. etc.. So much so, that when the tv musical GLEE came out, it was all too familiar with me and I was like, hey, that was us in school in the Philippines. Yes, that's when I realized the Philippines is special when it comes to the musicality of the people and how music is really part of the everyday life (culture).

Her father is her mentor.at the age of 3 she started singing..her father was surprise when he heard her singing.from then on he teach Esang as he is a Bang Vocalist also.her family actually knows how to sing or rather singers i think only they didn't pursue.so that is why Esang knows the technic & she really idolized Lea..so frm then on after the audition Lea took place as her mentor.
