I'm in my late forties, married, three adult kids, yet I think I did it backwards as far as seeking travel happiness. I chose to follow the corporate path when I came to the proverbial fork at the road, because that's what was expected, I think, and regret the time lost. I'm curious why you chose to study Bisaya/Cebuano instead of Tagalog/Filipino since the latter would be more versatile as a language for the whole of the Philippines and can help you integrate with multiple communities. By the way, I'm from neither the Tagalog speaking region nor Cebuano. I speak a different local language, but personally it would be of more use to learn to speak one of the national languages, namely Tagalog (the other being English), because Cebuano speakers can also speak/understand Tagalog.

who you're gonna do red horse talks with now? 🤣 If you're gonna learn a language Tagalog might be a better option, most of us visayans can understand and speak tagalog fluently and you can use it in pretty much every part of the country in case you're venturing north in the future.
