It's so hard to find TVs with a high refresh rate, in my region at least they don't consider it an important function you have to look for it manually

You need to select Monitor Mode to get full 4k120. Well that is the case with my 1year old OLED706

Hi, I know I can watch via ethernet but can I set the tv up out of the box using only ethernet or do I need an antenna or satellite connection? @ 5:28 screen shows install satellite/ install antenna/cable. Great review by the way. Thanks

I’m thinking about buying Phillips the one tv 50 inch (2022) PUS8857 as it’s on Black Friday sale for 800 euros and has 120fps, VRR and ALLM. I play on ps5. I don’t know if I should buy it but I really like the ambilight but I’m not sure about it’s gaming performance. Do you think I should buy?

50 inch display has VA panel so you should get from it better contract and deeper black level.

@@user83720 IPS is better on colors and not losing color saturation and brightness on vertical and horizontal angle view, but IPS have such issue like bloom effect on whole scrren because of the way the screen is made in comparison between VA panel (contrast ratio). The issue on VA is ghosting and black smearing, blur on motion. IPS doesn't have such issue and it is more preferred in computer monitors for gaming.

its good, though not perfect, i didn't notice it or find it distracting while watching tv, but you can see some light bleed in black screen uniformity test (fireworks scene) if you disable dimming at max brightness level

I bought it month ago and I am now sorry that I did not return it to the shop imidiately. It is 43PUS8807 model. Yeah, TV looks nice, Android TV, 120 Hz VRR, sound is good, black on sreeen is good... but it has one for me big issue. Picture is great like it is shown in review and you can really set it how you like, but viewing angles are horrible. If you look TV from angle bigger than 20-30degrees picture looks horrible. I knew about (M)VA panel issues but it was my mistake when I decide to buy it. I did not know how big this problem is. If you look TV from angle, avoid not only this Philips, but all VA TV panels. AFAIK whole 88xx series use VA panels.

after checking out lots of reviews on lg , thomspon, sharp , jvc and samsung this philps wins at 120hz at the pricerange. lg only has 60hz at this price range.

@johnnybravo4727 Yes it is 120hz as it has two hdmi 2.1 ports on the back. Hdmi 2.1 is 4k at 120hz so this is ideal if you want a PS5 120hz experience on a budget

yes it has average ips, mva black picture uniformity, it visible in dark scenes with full brightness, the best settings to hide it is movie picture profile and you can adjust backlight contrast in advanced picture settings. check out techwatcher philips settings clip.

its okay, micro diming helps a lot, offcourse it still cant defeat the best samsung tvs in ips vs va tests, but when u watch avatar with ambilight on, contrast looks impressive...

Could you or anyone else help me with a problem I'm having with this TV? I use the 43 inch version as a computer monitor, which initially seemed great until I tried to watch 1080p videos on youtube. They are blocky as hell and just look plain bad. Is there any way around this or am I missing something?

make sure you have enable game mode and change vrr settings. enable advanced game settings, if doesn't work, disable options all and start enabling one by one until problem solved.

I’m assuming you adjusted the resolution to 3840 by 2160 and refresh rate to at least 60 or 120 hz on your PC, if your PC and HDMI cable supports it. You can also try adjusting the scaling to 125-150%, try switching to extended or second screen mode, or just accessing KZfaq from another browser. Does this also happen with other streaming apps/platforms?

@@andrewbirch I should have clarified that the problem comes with blacks and greys in videos. In dark sections of videos or movies, the blacks etc are literal large square pixels on the screen. This isn't only on youtube or streaming either, it's present in downloaded movies played in VLC player. The display is at max resolution at either 60 or 120 hz and I bought an HDMI cable that supports both. I tried adjusting the scaling but that also didn't help.

@@Yorkxxx I've had this issue with MS Windows and HDR enabled. I think I remembered it being a graphics driver issue. If you adjust the contrast in Nvidia or AMD control panel, it fixes the blockiness in blacks. Turning off HDR in Windows (which I doubt you'd want to do) also fix3s the blockineess.

And 1 more question i was about to buy lg c2 48inch but im afraid of oleds burn in (if it's still a big concern) which led tv do u think it's best to buy philips the one or sony x80/85? I need it mostly for movies and tv shows and sometimes gaming on ps5. The ambilight is awesome but the tv is going to be on a bookshelf so the free space on the sides is only like 5-6 cm Thanks in advance!

@@camy252camy3 well, yes and no. The screen itself hasn't got amazing blacks anyways, regardless of panel type, but...ambilight really does make up for it by tricking your eyes to see 'more, deeper' contrast.

it depends if you care about gaming, picture uniformity and core smart tv speed, samsung has slight advantage, but on other hand philips has still similar motion, color , performance, more apps and better contrast thanks to the ambilight.

Also, VRR 120HZ are set up to work best HDMI 1 & 2. As Tech Watcher said to, you need to set up the game profile, then it works well. I’ve got one and went through the same.

Hi, I have an issue with this TV (55'') with every KZfaq video (at any resolution and any FPS) when increasing speed to 1.25x, 1.5x or 2.0x, it is like the FPS decreases a lot (like jumping between frames and freezing on some without showing the frames between them... Producing a big headache as a result.. Is there any solution? (It is not a network bandwidth issue)

This is a issue with the KZfaq app on Android TV, I’ve had this recently with both a Philips PUS8807 and Hisense U8H. Google says they are aware and are looking to find a fix.

it looks impressive with ambilight, picture quality is comparable with lg, samsung has still better black levels, but philips has better motion.

Sad sam skužio po komentarima da si HR. Molim vas za pomoć. Več 2 mjeseca gledam televizore i nemam pojma šta bi uzeo. Buđet mi je 4500 kn do 5000kn i prostor mi je za 50". Nisam gejmer ili neš tako. Molim vas ako imate kakav savjet uputu bio bih vam ekstra zahvalan.

za budget oko 5000kuna bi preporucio philips 8007, lg nano78 ili samsung q60 imajo malo vise svjetline ili kontrasta za filmove ali u bojama vrlo slicni philipsu, najeftiniji je hisense a7 ali nema sve smart tv apps kao philips 8....

@@Themaxdu1 8807 ima 25% vise svjetline i 50% brzi ekran (native refresh rate) ostalo je slicno, tako da po danu izgleda 8807 bolje, brzina micanja slika isto dobro dode ali uglavnom se isplati zbog vise svjetline (400 vs 500)

It has red color PWM even on 100% contrast. It also works as a brightness regulation. I hate modern LED tvs with eyes brokening and brain damage technology.

There are many Philips 8007 versions. Successor for 2023/2024 are Philips pus8808 series, pfl8007 series were made from 2012 to 2013.

they have similar color performance, philips has better motion processing with 120hz native refresh rate and supports more smart tv apps... i like the ambilight its much more useful than any tv led strip kit

8506 and 8546 are 60Hz models from last year, 8807 is a 120Hz model from this year.

this tv is amazing value for money. From what I can tell. the main rivals for this TV is the Samsung Q60, LG 816 and Sony X72. the X72 is the only one that can really compare to it. as usual the lg and Samsung are edge lit and and lack any dolby vision and dolby atmos support whereas the sony and philips are direct lit and thus will habe better control over dark colours and blacks. the Philips however has a 120hz screen which is much solid bonus compared to the x72 as for image processing and picture styles that's subjective of course. I really think Philips have done a great job this year around with "the one" its the highest upgrade to the one series in years. I am only disappointed with the new stand foe the TV not only it doesn't rotate its made of plastic. for

It's obviously an AD here as for one the display is not well calibrated and two the soundsystem has clearly no bass. One of the worst sound installation of 2022. Get some measurement data if you want to be taken seriously. This is misleading
