I just bought this model for Christmas (actually this video sold it to me) and I am very happy with it. The set-up is a bit trickier than the video shows (e.g. the first time no bubbles came out of the little box, I had to turn it back and forth, tap it a bit under water), and only the second time I tried to set it up, it rinsed everything out with plenty of water. Since then, however, it has done its job flawlessly and we have been drinking very, very tasty coffees and cappuccinos. The amount of coffee and water is something to be experienced, I for one drink everything at the maximum, while my girlfriend prefers lighter coffees. I would highly recommend this machine to everyone.

I think it's important for potential buyers to be aware, the full size (max volume) coffee this machine makes is just under 8 oz. If you're looking for a single button press coffee in a higher volume than that, you'll need a different machine. The coffee volume adjustment section of this video is misleading. You can only adjust it down, the machine is sent already at the max quantity.

It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.

Is it normal for the expelled coffee grinds to be very soupy like? My previous machine the expelled coffee grinds were compact like a puck - this one the grinds are quite wet. As well there seems to be a lot of condensation on the grounds bypass lid and water in the drip tray (even though we capture water coming out of the spout at startup/shutdown in a cup). Is there water dripping from inside the machine into the drip tray? (again, or other machine, the only water coming out was from the spout and start up and shutdown.

Only a few drops was rinsed through the spout on initial start up. Is that normal? Also When I put the aqua clean filter upside down in water, no bubbles came out. Is that normal?

Hi, is it normal that some water gets dispensed when using the steam wand? (while it’s dry- no water in it)

I purchased this machine a little over a year ago and it has broken 4 times. And that is not the worst thing, its the lack of customer service , I keep calling but there are never any supervisors to talk to. And they never call me back. All I hear from Philips is a lot of BS, very busy, or what ever. Philips has never returned my calls and have every time denied me to talk to a supervisor.

My machine is making the coffee not creamy espresso but more like a regular brewed coffee on espresso or espresso lungo options. Must be something wrong with the machine ? My Nespresso Vertuo gives me a better espresso.

NOTE TO PHILIPS. This machine is easy to use, easy to clean and easy to maintain. We love it. However, I have some suggestions for Philips for future versions of this machine. Firstly, you do not have a "milk only" function on your machines, which is frustrating, especially when making other beverages or wanting to top-up your existing coffee. You need to add a function that dispenses only milk. Secondly, there is a difference between a Macchiato and a Cappuccino. In one, the espresso is dispensed first, and in the other, the milk is dispensed first. In this machine, milk is dispensed first for both. In your machine, both drinks are essentially the same, apart from the volume. You probably need to fix this. You also need to indicate if your Macchiato is a Cafè/Espresso Macchiato or a Latte Macchiato. They are all different. Thirdly, there is NO indicator on the machine to indicate which direction one should turn the grind knob to achieve a finer grind. Is it clockwise or anti-clockwise? And nobody at Philips seems to be able to answer. To end on a positive note, while people complain about how loud the milk function is, we don't really mind. It gives the impression one is in a coffee shop with all that steaming and frothing. But seriously, you need to consider adding a "milk only" function and fixing the order of the dispensing for Macchiato and cappuccino. And you need to add an indicator that shows which way to turn the grind knob to obtain a finer grind.
