History of the Bay Episode 69: Philthy Rich has been in the rap game for over 15 years and become a Bay Area legend. Growing up in East Oakland's Seminary hood, Philthy transitioned from the streets to music and gained a huge success through his nonstop work ethic. Starting off with J. Stalin's Livewire Records, Philthy now develops new artists through his label FOD Entertainment. Overcoming prison stints, police harassment, beef with other rappers, haters, and snakes in his circle, Philthy has achieved nationwide success and continues to give back to his community.

He dropped some facts. Im bay area born and raised. I come from nothing but criminals and dope dealers but became Oakland PD for all the right reasons. I used to ride around and listen to Philthy in the squad cars and the older officers hated it. To say they had it out for him was facts. They labeled him as so many things and i remember even being taken down Sem just to see if they could catch him in some bs. Meanwhile im telling them about the positive things that he was doing and they didnt wanna hear it.

I love Philthy Rich music and the movement he pushing. He works the hardest in the Bay easily by far, but this was definitely a lot of righteous preaching lol. I feel like he didn't hear a single question or comment to the end before trying to answer lol. A lot of respect to DregsOne for his patience lol. Philthy Rich is getting better in interviews though and practice makes perfect! No one is doing what Philthy Rich is doing in the Bay. He deserves his flowers. Yup. I think in a sense, a lot of times the Bay don’t vibe too well when people be into that Blood and Crip situation. That what makes it different from other West Coast areas. The Bay just don’t have the same influence from dem two groups. It’s more turfed out for the brothas fa sho. The Latins, Asians and Samoans be the ones mainly trippin off colors and such in the Yay.

Mess opened himself up to be dissed. Mess been acting like a jkat. Mess still a legend but ain't no one above getting called out. You can't keep being janky and expect no love loss. With that said, Philthy knows Mess is a legend so all is well again. Maybe they ain't cool like that but it isn't funk and everyone knows Mess needs help.

Mess did that to himself. If u remember Messy started funkin with Too Short, and started talkin shit about Mac Dre. The whole bay dam near stopped fuckin wit Mess at that point... then Mess left the bay for a year or two. Then when he came back the bay had kinda just forgave him for trippin cuz we all knew he was on dope. I'm not sure why u would lose respect for Philthy for goin at Messy, when Mess was the one who started soeakin on everybody. But u have a right to ur own opinion ofcourse. And maybe im not remembering it all correctly but that's how I remember it happenin.
