I think it was that Trace Foster fella who has the most on to it way of winding strings on. One loop over the string going thru the hole and the rest under. It locks the strings without having to do that knot thing or have locking tuners. It keeps them nicely in tune if the nut etc is in good shape.

As a KZfaq taught beginner i like to absorb as much as possible from as many angles as possible. im just now starting to understand Rick =) only took a year and a half. thanks much

Nathan Liberty Ian Sheppard was Josh Klinghoffers. Duncan Swift does Pixies/Radiohead. Mike Hickey is Bonamassas. Rene Martinez (did SRV, I think - then later John Mayer). Doug Redler. (I’ve got his book - which is great).

hmmmm.... i didn't know that was an option (40 something years in.... hahahaha). actually when i play with the drills i just use 1 pickup guitars & count on the high-cut tone knob to get the American Woman tone.

Hey Philx your Gibson hummingbird do you have a pick guard problem ? Mine is literally pulling off bad
@gerryjamesedwards12273 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking that there is a way to make a much less bulky talk-box arrangement. Those bluetooth ear-buds are such good quality that you'd only need one of those getting the signal from a little Bluetooth board in your switcher, and could have it in a much shorter, thinner tube. Er... I think I need more caffeine.
@philx11113 жыл бұрын
first of all, the thickness of the tube is very important. it's taking the place of a speaker & then your mouth shapes the sound at the end. 2ndly, my tech just put it in a metal braided sleeve to make it look industrial & yeah, bulky. ... but we were going for that.

Hi Phil!!!! Did I miss that part, or you skipped one guitar on the rig run? Are you allowed to show any guitar brand except Fenders? Maybe I'm wrong and it was not a Fender, although at a glance it looks like a Tele for me.
@GreekGuru743 жыл бұрын
Γειά σου. I've been playing guitar for 10 years now and I've always wanted to learn bouzouki as well. Is it an easy instrument to pickup being so similar to guitar? Συγχαρητήρια with ur success, been watching you since the beginning of the fretted americana videos.
@georgemueh32733 жыл бұрын
Hey Phil I got a talk box request.... using the black Les Paul jam out she's a woman. The Jeff Beck version. Awesome rig🤘
@sotirios68823 жыл бұрын
Phil what's the weight on the LES Paul's u are using? I have a 79 Les Paul standard which I love it's my go to guitar n it has some weight to it. About 9 pounds or so. I had to get a thicker strap for the reason being after hrs of playing it takes a toll on the shoulder haha.What songs do u use ur Korina guitar for? Love the maple neck. I also have a Fender strat my guitar tech put together for me it has only one pickup which is the EVH FRANKENSTEIN HUMBUCKER with a Super-Vee Blade Runner bridge n tremolo system stays in tune well, also with a volume n tone control push pull knob all in one. Anyway have a great Rehearsal Jam. THE ATOMIC PHIL X ROCKS ON !👊👍🎸😎
@philx11113 жыл бұрын
i think the ideal weight for a les paul is between 8 & 9 lbs. i think mine swim in that vicinity around 8.5. i gotta check out that bridge.
@sotirios68823 жыл бұрын
@@philx1111 If u check out that bridge n tremolo system I mentioned you would need to get a roller nut n roller string trees along with locking tuners . It works best with these items n string changing alot quicker n easier. No more string locks on the nut like a floyd rose has n no more cutting the ball off the string. Just insert the string through the back plate pull it up to the tuning peg n lock it in. Plus u could tune the guitar from the tuning pegs. Just thought I should inform u about it. Almost forgot u can get those items all from Fender .

My apologies if you have addressed this in the past. Also, I don’t mean this as a question to try to “start” anything. I am truly interested in knowing. Are you playing your Framus guitars anymore? And also, will they continue to make your XG model guitars?
@philx11113 жыл бұрын
hey man, i parted with framus at the end of 2019 & joined forces with gibson. first off, i've always loved gibson guitars but wasn't a fan of their quality control, or lack there of, until recently with the new top dogs taking over. i took a tour of both factories in nashville last summer & was blown away by the attention to detail & renovations that created better work spaces for a better product. between that & having an affordable (yes... affordable. no other company i've been with could accomplish this) Phil X Epiphone down the road, it's hard not to be excited about this new relationship. as far as Framus goes, i've been told the XG will still exist but their changing the name to not have an X which is totally understandable.
@TheAxe4Ever3 жыл бұрын
philx1111 Thanks for answering my question and for your honesty. I’ve noticed for the last several months you’ve been slinging Gibson’s but just never asked the question until now. I’m so happy Gibson is turning it around. I was not very happy with them and their lack of QC as have many other guitarists. They’re an American icon and needed to tighten up their product. The fact that you came on board tells me they are truly interested in rebuilding their brand and reconnecting with musicians again. Thanks man!
