Which do you think is better?

For me Ultrapower Hearing Aids are better because I need the most Amplification possible in my Hearing Aids. I do not really care if my Receivers match your hair or skin because my Receivers are Bigger than most people and I decided to go with a color now Blue for my Receivers because everyone knows that I wear Hearing Aids anyway so they can be a color I like now.

You'd probably guess by my other comments, but the Life seems targeted at me. I guess it depends on the market. For my centenarian relative, I think the TCoil might make sense to help with the telephone. I'd happily trade a TCoil for a waterproof aid that I don't have to worry about and a good bluetooth that hooks to my laptop during meetings or to the BT on my TV, where I do watch movies. IF the battery life was acceptable. I think my land line phone works with tCoil ... but Its in a box in the basement, but my mobile, it has BT. I know my aids now are IP68, but they do shut off when wet, so when playing with the hose in the garden or swimming with my child ... they are out and I am impaired and that's important.

I have the Paradise and am surprised to hear that none of your patients report running out of battery on the rechargable ones. I am a rare case that actually sleep a minimum of 8 hrs per night and I do run out sometimes. I don't stream a huge amount and my loss is moderate. Most people I know don't sleep that much and would easily run out of battery regularly. It has not become an issue for me but since it has happened a few times, I do have some anxiety around it, especially if I'm at a business dinner.

Well, my brand new Paradise dont last a full day if I stream (which I do..), I had resound before which never ran out of charge... Increasing battery time would be no one for me on the Paradise.... Secondly the app dont work well if you have more than one phone.

I can't see much point in upgrading to the Lifes yet. I have the Paradise P90 13 Ts and the Paradise P50 Rs they both do a fantstic job of helping me hear and have been faultless overall. I'm have profound loss in one ear and servere to pround in the other but still cope ok. I must say that the recharagable P50's offer better sounds as the have less features and seem to adjust better to different enviroments. I have the titanium mounds for both set and they are super comfy and i've never suffered from sore itch ears like I did with standard mounds from the NHS. I think it's always worth waiting to upgrade once phonak has completed 2 new generations of aids as the technology will be great improved. Jumping to the next version normally only offers marginal improvements. Loving the clear info a very clear and informative channel.

I just bought a portable T loop receiver for £20 and plugged it into a Bluetooth transmitter, fits in a pocket and works well for the odd situation when I need to access a Hearing Loop with My Audeo Life HAs. Overall I'm very happy but I do wish that more of Phonak Target was available in the Phonak phone app. I've bought my own Noahlink and have been able to really customise my whole experience, was really useful when trying out different domes and sizes as the fitting needs to be re-calculated with each change. It would have required about 6 separate audiologist appointments but I was able to do it at home over a week.

@@HearingTracker I may have spoken too soon as after a bit of testing it doesn't seem too practical a solution. The coil receiver that I have picks up quite a lot of interference from the Bluetooth transmitter which can be mitigated, but it is fiddly. Finally it's all quite a lot to lug around as the coil receiver isn't designed to be small. In theory this works but after a few weeks of testing it is a bit hit and miss with the equipment that I've sourced. I'll look out for a better quality coil receiver with noise reduction or possibly build one myself. It seems like an easy win to bring two devices to market: a mini Bluetooth enabled coil receiver and a simple Bluetooth microphone. With respect to the latter, the eye watering price of devices like Roger On seem to demonstrate how ready this market is for some serious disruption in all areas not just HAs.

Great and thorough overview from one of the world’s most knowledgeable and forthright experts, Matthew…so thank you very much, indeed! I…all of us, have come to trust you because of your consistent honesty and candor. We are not naïve and know that around the world, the almighty dollar still reigns supreme. However, you somehow manage to never let that edict stand in the way of your truth telling and professionalism. Thank God for that! To that end, I have been unsuccessful in getting a true and complete answer to my question concerning the actual similarities and differences between two popular hearing aids: Phonak’s Audéo Paradise P-90 and Costco’s Kirkland Signature KS10. I have asked and unfortunately received different and often conflicting answers from your several ‘brothers and sisters’ who share this YT medium, as well as both Costco direct and even both the Technical Support and Customer Service teams at Phonak. Woe is me…all gobbledegook and marketing noise. So, Matthew, can you please take an up-to-the-minute deep dive from your usual high board of research and insight and provide a simple column A / column B comparison of these two devices, and do so in your usual fashion, i.e., without bias or prejudice? Your legions of fans would be forever grateful. Many thanks! Bill Longtime listener and loyal fan

Hey Bill Thank you so much for taking the time to comment in such detail. I'll do my best to do some research. I do fear that you may end up in the same place with me as your other sources too. As you'll see all of my reviews come with the level of information as they do because I fit these hearing aids on a daily basis. As I don't work for Costco I wont have the hands on experience to be able to go into the level of detail tat I feel you are after. Leave it with me however and I'll look into it. Wonderful, Matthew, and thank you for taking the time to understand…at least partially… and respond to my…our need for additional information. Function, especially over time, sometimes referred to simply as “performance and value” are important constituents of an evaluation. However, what I am really hoping for are the “nuts & bolts” features, more a Chinese menu comparing Column A to Column B. I am quite sure that based on your years of experience, knowledge of terms and, if you will, the language of audiology, these features will pop out to you pretty readily, at least that is my hope. Whether these features fulfill their ambitious promise over time, we’ll only time will tell. Thanks again! Best, Bill

I have the Audeo Life and there's a big Bluetooth problem that my audiologist is trying to resolve with Phonak. Unless they sort it they'll be going back. Basically, if you walk away form your phone and lose your bluetooth connection, they don't reconnect when you come back in range. You have to manually reconnect. But obviously you don't know you disconnected. So you find that sometimes your phone rings and you are connected, and other times you are not connected. It's an unexpected faff to connect then again when the other person is on the end of their phone waiting for you. Or sometimes you play media from your phone expecting it to be in your ears only, but you find out it's actually playing to everyone around you from your phone. Maybe you can check this on your devices too?
@belo2999
@belo2999 2 жыл бұрын
For me it depends on the other Bluetooth device: My PC has no trouble with reconnecting if I wander off and come back again whilst my Android 13 phone can be fussy and my BT transmitters normally require being turned off/on. Sometimes the Audeo Life HAs need a restart, but for me it's about twice a week and I use four different Bluetooth transmitters. I find it no better or worse than normal BT headphones so I'd be surprised if Phonak can fix a fairly standard problem with Bluetooth if you unwittingly cut the connection.

@@belo2999 I had a set of Oticon's. Never had this issue. Oticon use the 'made for iPhone' standard though, which is native iPhone functionality. Phonak on the other hand have chosen not to go down this route and do their own connection standard, perhaps that's what's going on here, maybe that should be pointed out in this video review. As a side note my audiologist spoke to Phonak support who suggested they should reconnect automatically. So I've not given up hope yet 👍
@belo2999
@belo2999 2 жыл бұрын
@@garybury4480 It's actually the opposite way round: Phonak are using standard Bluetooth 4.2 and multipoint which will connect to pretty much any device out there. It takes two to tango and both devices are equally involved in maintaining and negotiating the connection. Phonak can try as hard as they like but ultimately if the other device won't play fair then there isn't much that they can do about it. I have 4 Bluetooth devices connected and they all behave differently and Windows 10 behaves near perfectly in re-establishing the connection. Apple have never been known for adopting standards used by everyone else.

Why is there no mention of LC3 and, specifically, when this Bluetooth improvement will be available? I am personally awaiting this tech before purchasing replacements to my current Phonak hearing aids, now 4 years old. Why should someone buy the Paradise/Audeo models when were were 'told' to expect the LC3-updated HAs by 2022. Is the world chip shortage really affecting inclusion of newer chips, while Phonak says they have improved the chips in the Paradise/Audeo lines?

I bought the Phonak Paradise Life Acqua, I love them but after months and months of adjustments with my audiologist, it’s still not working well with background noise environment and I’m missing A LOT of sounds. Such as in restaurants, theatre, concerts, shows, soccer play and yoga classes. During a concert, for example, I just take them off and can hear better without them. I really feel frustrated and upset. 🤡 I really think it’s not well set for the high technology it has, and maybe I should look for another audiologist professional. Any thoughts?

Are any of these Ultrapower Hearing Aids and how do they compare with Oticon Exceed Ultrapower Hearing Aids? My Audiologist showed me Exceeds now because they have the most Amplification possible now and what he recommended and has there. And he showed me with his fingers that my Receivers would be a lot Bigger than his Sample because of all my Amplification your Receivers need to be a lot Bigger. I always go with whatever Hearing Aids my Audiologist thinks will work best for me when I get new Hearing Aids but I like that you are explaining it to people.I think for people who do not need this much Amplification they can choose from different kinds of Hearing Aids but for me he just gives me the Hearing Aids with the most Amplification possible so I never got to pick them out like other people do. That is why I decided to make my Receivers and Earmolds a color now so it is something that I can pick out for my Hearing Aids now like other people can choose what kind of Hearing Aids they get I can at least make mine a Color I like now.

I disagree on the TCoil. It seems useless. I searched for TCoil availability in the city I lived in (a city of over a million people) and there are maybe a few dozen places, like city hall (because they have to) one cinema (does anyone go out to movies any more) and a handful of churches and of course, all the senior centers. I do agree in a medieval church, a TCoil would be good with all the echos. Still, it seems to be a tech that is well past it's prime. It also is not anything a 'life' user would care about, that user isn't spending time sitting around indoors.
