These cards empower them to read independently. They are already familiar with the pink (consonants) and blue (vowels) color-coding from the movable alphabet. They already know the reliable, phonetic sounds each letter makes.
Now they can pull it together and figure out what each of these words is saying without any help at all. It even stretches their vocabulary because some words they may not yet know are included. We want that because it gets them talking about vocabulary.
