Have you ever heard of JoJo Mayer? He’s an incredible drummer that fronts an electronic band called Nerve. They have a song influenced by photek... name fauxtek! All the drums are played live by JoJo. Sorry for the reply 5 years later lol

Funny that ppl only see Photek as a Jungle artist, he has always made other genres. He made one of the best Drum and Bass albums of all time, save Goldie's Timeless, but his recent house etc has his usual high quality attention to detail stuff.

Photek's music has changed me, and I wish I could tell him in person some day. I still remember when and where I was the first time I heard his music. In 1996 my friend brought over a new PS1 game called Wip3out XL. On it, there was a track called The Third Sequence, and it was the favorite song in the soundtrack for both of us. I can't help but watch the soap opera unfold between the two on the right in the background. The dude in the Bb shirt and the girl with the zebra print. Around 10 min in it starts getting good. Some other girl comes and kisses him and she keeps looking over her shoulder until he gets back. But I digress... I love me some dub nowadays but i definitely hoped for more of the Photek we all knew and loved back in the 90's and early 2000's.

I hate when people call dubstep dub. They aren't interchangable!

+Warden Dios if this were a reggae type of vid you could say dub to be short for dub reggae. I hate when people think that semantics are this important when delineating types of EDM. Any type of music that uses outside samples on top of a defined type of music is classified as dub-[blank] (for example, as with dub reggae back with Lee 'Scratch' Perry half a century ago). As with the downbeat kick-snare pattern we saw emerge in the late 90s early 2000s with 2step and other forms of 'step' music, which evolved from Garage music, putting random sounds and samples on it denotes it as Dubstep. But I digress, dub is a prefix used as a sub classification of a bigger genre, and if you're watching a vid where dubstep is playing, I would quite argue that saying dub to describe it gets the point across. Dub is not a type of music, dub [blank] is. I know this but I'm in no way disrespecting a musical genre. How about the fact people started calling breakbeat back in the day? Get over yourself

He's not generic by any means. If he went the generic mainstream way, he'd sound like fresh or chase & status. His newest album is a blend of different genres. As much as i love his older works i think its good that he is constantly evolving, let him search for his own sound.
