In this video we are at the Colle del Nivolet, a mountain pass in the Alps in northern Italy not so far from Turin, in the Gran Paradiso National Park.
From Turin you must first reach Ceresole Reale (88 Km) and then you go on with several hairpin bends for 18.5 Km and you finally reach the pass at an altitude of 2612 meters above sea level.
During this short trip I took with me an old Zeiss Ikon Nettar 517/16 (a folding medium format camera) and a roll of Ilford FP4 plus 125.

Ciao Flavio, grazie! Hai ragione, la Nettar è veramente fantastica ed è sempre un piacere usarla. In realtà avrei voluto fare molte più gite nel 2020 e portarla con me e fare altri video ma come ben sai non è stato possibile, speriamo nel 2021!

Nice photos Fabrizio. I like that you were using a vintage camera. I like to put vintage lenses onto my Fuji body. There is definitely a different feeling when using vintage gear. Thanks for the video.

E' un posto fantastico! Io ho avuto davvero poco tempo ma dal rifugio che si trova lì partono poi diversi sentieri verso altre vedute spettacolari, vedrai che non te ne pentirai.

I enjoyed this thank you so much for sharing. I liked the way you spoke about things in detail before you showed us where you had taken the photographs. The camera looked very interesting and the results looked great. It has given me hope because I have just used a similar camera for the first time and am waiting for the film to return with my results. Thank you, I'm happy you have appreciated that part, I was afraid it was too long before showing the photos. I have also other 2 folding cameras, 6x9, but the lens unfortunately are not sharp, they are foggy and the photos aren't so good. I'm happy I've finally found one with a working lens. I'm happy you like the channel and I hope my english is good enough to be understood :-)

Un luogo incantato che conosco molto bene per aver salito il Taou Blanc e la Punta Basei. Oltre il rifugio Savoia ci sono laghi naturali bellissimi, il Rosset e il Leyta su tutti, circondati da flora e fauna meravigliose.

Thank you! The light was enough and I could use a fast shutter speed so I could take the photos handheld. The 515/16 is also really nice, if the conditions of the lens and body are good you'll take pin sharp images.

Thanks Joseph! I've seen digital cameras that have a quite analog approach, specially the ones with the foveon sensor, and the final photos looked comeing from a film camera. I guess it depends also on the final user and how the files are "developed".

Bravissimo Fabrizio, video è come sempre curato e piacevole. Questa macchina a pellicola è davvero un gioiellino ed hai realizzato bellissime fotografie. Ti piace il filtro giallo? Quindi con un massimo di 1/200 se non chiudi troppo il diaframma riesci a scattare bene senza cavalletto? Aspetto già il prossimo video!

Ciao Luigi, hai ragione, questa macchina è un vero gioiellino e mi regala sempre delle soddisfazioni, questa volta in particolare, complici le montagne! Il filtro giallo mi piace e lo uso abbastanza, in questo caso avrei voluto avere un arancione o un rosso, con quel bel cielo azzurro e quelle nuvole l'effetto sarebbe stato ancora più accentuato. Se non chiudo troppo il diaframma (a f/8 su infinito quest'ottica è già super) e il tempo quindi è tra 1/125 e 1/200, riesco anche senza cavalletto. Grazie per la visione, apprezzo molto!

Thank you for the video! I just bought a Nettar with the same lens, and I thought that I can't put a filter on it as there is no thread for it. Is the filter you have a push-on filter? Can you please check if it has anything that might help me find a right one? Thanks!

Wow. These are the best results I have seen using the nettar. I have 3 but struggle to get anything like this quality. Just run the first roll of film through my third one. Fingers crossed. Definitely going to invest in a yellow slip on filter. How did you process the film?

Hi, thanks for your nice feedback, I'm happy you liked the photographs. The camera still has a sharp lens with no fungus or other issues, I hope will stay in this way for a while. I don't process the film on my own, I send it to a lab who also makes the professional scan of the film. Counting all the time needed for developing and then scanning on my own each frame, for me it's more effective outsourcing. I then edit the scan, if necessary, making some dodging and burning digitally.

I have a slip on yellow filter on order! If you get any fungus they are easy to clean the internal elements.

@@257squadron The yellow filter in some situations is really helpful, I like to use it to darken the sky and to bring more life in the clouds.

Hi...I enjoyed your video. I especially the strong contrast these cameras produce, and the yellow filter even more so. I too have a Zeiss Ikon Nettar. It's not the same model, but very similar. May I ask, does your yellow filter screw on, or slip on? In either case, what is the filter size? I'm trying to determine the diameter of the filter I need. I have a 32mm diameter slip on, but that's too small. If you have an opportunity to measure the diameter and reply to this comment, that would be very helpful for me. thank you
