Quick tutorial on how to remove and delete a background with the quick select tool in Adobe Photoshop. This voice tutorial will guide you through and show you how to use the quick select tool with some of the shortcut keys you should learn. Quick select tool is in Photoshop CS5, CS6 and CC. This video works with all of them.

Can you not go so fast? And maybe explain it in a way that one might someone(s) who is NEW to photoshop. Your videos are nice but you often skip over key bits of info in your excitement to get it all out.

What a ton of people don't actually know is that if the background is a different color (or contrasted) compared to the object you want to cut out, you can select the image and go to "Select">"Select and Mask." Once there, set the transparency on 50%. Now drag your mouse over the object you want to cut out to fill it in. You can tell you've filled in the object completely if it is brighter than it's surroundings. Once you've filled it in, go down to Output Settings and change the selection in the drop down box to "New Layer." Then click OK. This will create a new layer with only your object! If there are parts of the background stuck to the object, you can erase it. This really works with objects that are highly contrasted with their backgrounds. Hopefully I explained it right, maybe you can put this in a video!

Good advice, the reason I drag it out is because sometimes it has a thin outline of the image. But I'll keep in mind that ctrl and d will de-select it

1. when i select the photo and want to remove the background, The inside photo gets cut with Adobe Photoshop CS6 how to reverse the cutting? means how to remove background instead of removing the photo of the person? i really learned alot in this video.. I follow the steps from start and I can tell you that this is the best tutorial for me its like my dream came true and I didnt expect so fast I will remove the background :)

it's Shift + Ctrl + I to invert the selection or go to *Select* > *Inverse* But if it's the mask you're trying to invert then it's Ctrl + I when you're selecting the mask.

I think I have something set strangely in my PS... when I hit delete, PS wants to do content aware fill. Will fiddle with it and see if I can figure out what I've screwed up here EDIT: Oh hahaha I had the image locked, because I had reopened the image.... fail!

I have a question. After editing and everyone. There was a part that I have cut in too deep. How can I make the erase be invertible? Like not erasing the picture, but the background. In a sense, restoring the picturing back. Idk if I explained that good, but how can I do this!?

Sorry I only just got home, what format did you save it as? if you saved it as another format it may just make the background a plain white colour. Also what other editor did you use because that editor might not be in transparent mode like Photoshop

Yup I just figured up checking your comments lol thanks. btw whenever I delete the background, the 'fil'l box jump out so I have to chick the eraser first every time, is there any solution? also sometimes the mouse is only a + but no circle surround it.

You can do the eraser tool method every time or look in the settings for the layer and the circle problem shouldn't happen, not sure why yours is doing that. Just restart Photoshop or reinstall it

Click on the layer, then select the eraser tool. After that click anywhere on the screen, a message will come up and you just press ok and that will turn it into a layer

Sure. You know what you should make a tutorial how to make health bar like in my video of that cats fight. I have watch tutorial from someone else and I barely made it. Take me few hours to get it right. its not simple to do it.Or maybe I am a bit to dumb. Anyway you where my plan B if plan A would failed from that guy tutorial. And i have a bit more questions for sony vegas but all in time if you gonna have any spare time

No I don't think your dumb, the tutorial probably didn't have a solid structure for new people learning to do that. But at the end of the day that video was hilarious hahaha. I just need to know how you could save an image of JUST the person. Every time I save in this scenario and I paste the photo somewhere else there’s still a white square behind the object.

Save it as .PNG because other formats don't support transparency so they will use a white background

Yh with the new update you just need to right click on the layer and click "rasterize layer" then you can edit

Sounds like the layer is locked, check see if you've unlocked it

Are you selecting the correct layer and does your image say "background" or "layer 0" if its a background you need to unlock it

Yeah I can do that but the only thing is, I've never really used Adobe Premiere. I made my intro in After Effects. Is Adobe Premier similar to after effects?

Adobe premiere is like Sony Vegas although I heard that it's a lot more complicated but at the same time better. And yes Adobe After Effects i forgot about that one, if you could show us how to make an intro on After Effects that would be great thanks.

You need to save it as PNG and make sure there's no layers under it which might act as a background

Is the stroke size on max? if it is then it will remove the whole image. Check to make sure its only 2 - 5 pixels big

If it does that then you can do the opposite and press ctrl + j and that will make the character on a new layer separated from the background

Right click on your background layer and click "rasterize layer" that will let you edit it

If you don't have "[ ]" on your keyboard then you'll have to manually change the size in the menu at the top left or if you can try switching your keyboard to English and test the keys out. Sometimes if you use a different language the keys are different for example if I had mine set to US then some keys would be different. I would suggest looking on this website for more information: helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html

You might of converted it to a smart object so just right click on it and go to "Rasterise layer"

If your using the new version of photoshop you'll need to right click on the layer and click "rastize layer"

If you save it as a PNG file it shouldn't have a background and if it does then it may be the program your importing to
