This is why I love Aaron Blaise, he shows every single breakdown in his videos that other artists may not exactly show in tutorials. Painting with light overall has been a struggle for me but I think this and the series really helped a lot, especially seeing how colors are added on top of local colors

Hi Aaron, well I have never painted digitally and never done any animation, as I work in oils, but your work and teaching methods are an absolute inspiration and of superb value to us traditional painters as well - I am very lucky to have found your channel :)

I love how your art still has the magic of those old 2D Disney movies. Now I am highly motivated to do similar art. You've rekindled that childhood innocence of mine as a kid who grew up watching Disney movies and cartoons and can't believe how simple and good times were back then. You helped me find such a precious part of myself that got lost during the course of time, I will never be able to thank you enough.

You are my favourite art teacher. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Every time I get asked what inspired me to become an artist I have to say it was when I was little and I saw a short documentary on how Disney movies were made. The fact that they were just all drawings absolutely blew my mind. To this day I'm amazed by that. Though I appreciate what CGI has to offer, the good old days with painted backgrounds and hand drawn figures just really resonates with me. I feel privileged to have access to someone who worked on something like Brother Bear (which I've watched a LOT with my kid). Keep on keeping on. We appreciate you.

I just started Photoshop CC this March of 2018 and I have learned many things. What more is that, I've learned these from you! Because you're enjoying what you're doing. I always think I'm a late bloomer and all that, but I realize that we all have our own pace and I'm always remembering that I have to take one step at a time, just like your process in painting. You're such a huge inspiration to me, Aaron! That's why I always continue to draw, because I know I can create great things like these one day. Love you, Mr. Aaron Blaise, and Bless you!

So, i saw this tutorial a long time ago, and before i used to have a lot of problems with spots and stripes and stuff like that up to the point where i would avoid them whenever i could. Well, not since i learned this trick, in fact i used it in a lot of other things, it's great for setting up your lighting and then you can do other shadows and lights "by hand" to improve it and get an even better result. I just wanted to say that, thank you Mr. Blaise, you helped me a lot.

I found this video a few weeks ago and tried it out, man I gotta tell yah, this shading technique has saved me days of work going into hours of work. Before I would individually shade each color, but nah now that you showed me this, it's super easier. I subbed because of this.

Definitely one of the best digital painting tuts. Made something so complicated looking to simple. Now I want to go back to digital painting again , I was kinda discouraged because I couldn't get the right colours (being that I'm mildly colour blind) . This is better way to tacle painting without spending too much time

I'm so glad I've found this. Most Photoshop painting tutorials I've ran across just talk about art theory and the artist doesn't say anything about WHAT they actually use to get things done - they just say "you need ____ because ____." You added the "and here is how you can do that in Photoshop" part! Thank you!
