This animation explores the process of photosynthesis and the structures that carry it out.
Photosynthesis converts light energy from the sun into chemical energy stored in organic molecules, which are used to build the cells of many producers and ultimately fuel ecosystems. After providing an overview of photosynthesis, the animation zooms inside the cells of a leaf and into a chloroplast to see where and how the reactions of photosynthesis happen. The animation details both the light reactions and the Calvin cycle, focusing on the flow of energy and the cycling of matter.

This is an amazing teaching tool. Trying to get students to read multiple pages, trying to encourage them to think about the steps simply, and to make sense of photosynthesis is one of the most difficult hurdles in basic biology. I am glad @biointeractive published this video because it is easy to understand and can be played over and again with traditional textbook reference. Thank You!

Great video that I'll definitely use with my students, but I'm wondering why they chose sucrose as the example monosaccharide produced using G3P. This may be confusing for students, since the summary equation for photosynthesis is almost always taught with glucose as the end-product (despite the fact that this is, in itself, misleading).
