This is Talad Kaset (Kaset Market), a Thai Food Market in Phuket Thailand. It’s open daily from about 5am till 10am and is right in the heart of Phuket Town, on the corner of Thanon Ong Sim Phai and Soi Tilok Uthit 2. Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/V6KmdpJTwst
It’s a great place to grab a Thai breakfast, with heaps of options on offer. There are all sorts of prepared and cooked foods as well as loads of fresh foods available - fruit, vegetables, meats and seafood, and everything you could possibly want from chicken feet to seaweed to pig heads and beef hooves.

Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food, or to buy groceries and fruit while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all around Thailand, and heaps around Phuket. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 4 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!
The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat and try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. I can't handle your videos. I have to try that sticky rice when I visit Thailand. Darren, the foods is unbelievable. I don't know where to start, I am lost for word. The foods looks healthy and great. I want to try the fried chicken skin, the sausages, soups, the seafood. ..etc. Another great video by Darren. Thanks again.

Darrem, every morning when I visit thailand, in bangkok i go to the same joke guy every day at 6am, if any later he runs out. Def, makes it a good day when I can get it. I also load mine up with chilis, pepper, ginger, and those white cruchy things. Wash it down with an iced coffee. Best breakfast in the world. Cheers mate.

Have you ever try kao yum (ข้าวยำ)? It's southern food. I really like it. easy to find in Songkhla but not sure in Krabi or other.

I'm still catching up ...I would have never made it past the take aways in styrofoam at around 13:30 YUMMY looking. Soupy rice w/egg is popular in Korea for breakfast too. I think they call it congee. Many varieties. Asians sure love their eggs. So do I LOL You have the timing for panning the food PERFECT. Thanks again.

Thanks! :) Yes, it is called congee and it is popular throughout Asia, it really is delicious. We just arrived back in Phuket today for a little holiday .. might have to head back to that market in the next day or 2 for a yummy breakfast!

Darren, aprox. how long/hard was it to be adequate in the Thai language? what was the most challenging? thanks!

I have not found Thai to be an easy language to learn. For me the most difficult part is the 5 tones. The same word can be 5 different words depending on the tone and if you don't have the right tone people have no idea what you're saying. I'm still a long way from fluency.

We are visiting Phuket in december and where are some hotspots not including this place and what is the atmosphere like for tourists at the moment? We are a bit worried

Things are returning to normal. Shops and restaurants were open every day as usual, bars were closed for a few days, but most of them are open again. I'm sure by December everything will be back to usual. There are lots of hotspots around Phuket. why do the wrap food or serve food in banana leaves?

Often food is wrapped in banana leaves before it is cooked as they work the same way as foil, sealing in the moisture, but also improving the aroma and taste. Other foods are wrapped in them before serving because that is the way those foods have been traditionally served.

Sorry, I don't know of any specific Halal food vendors in Patong, but there are lots there. Just look for the signs and you will find them.

I fly in 2 days to phuket I am very afraid of the language barrier I can speak English but no thai not a single word I try to learn but it is kind of hard.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Most Thai people working in tourist areas like Phuket can speak English.

The food looks lovely but the only problem I have with it is how open the food is ... rum temperature and many bacterias growing on them when they lay there all day.

I know 2 people who have gotten sick in Thailand and both believe it was from food they ate in their hotels. If you eat what the locals eat I'm sure you''ll be fine.

No, I haven't heard about that. Most vendors here seem to be aware of potential issues and either use a different hand for money and food, or clean their hands after touching money.

I also have street food all the time. But in US the street meat are kept on ice and/or covered until being put on the grill. From you video, the street food seems to be precook in another location and put on the open table for sale.

Yes, some is precooked elsewhere, but the majority of the street food in Thailand is cooked in the location where it is sold.

One of the old lady is putting eggs on the frying pan and i noticed some rat was running underneath the table. you will have to watch it again in a slow motion, tell me if you see it
