We compare two great options from Piaggio, the Liberty 150 and Fly 150. You can get one of these working class scoots for around $3000. Call for details. 216-795-580

Incredibly satisfied with my 2000 Liberty 125, did 30000 kilometers on it in two years, it is awesome. I took it offroad, rode it in the floods, I am commuting every day on it. Best vehicle I ever had (and I had many, much more powerful or better looking).

Piaggio is quality, that is the focal point.

Agreed. Bought a 2013 Vietnamese model with 8300 miles. Replaced ithe CVT belt, replaced the air filter and spark plug, put in 12.5 gram rollers ( vs 15g for OEM ).. Runs fine, idles kinda rough ( compared to my friend's LX150 with 11,000 miles -same engine, tuned a bit differently ), but at speed is very smooth, acceleration is pretty optimal for keeping up with cars, and comfortably easy to handle straight or on twisting roads (my favorite !). I am 70+ and rode dirt bikes and street bikes from age 12 thru about 50, so scooters are a bit strange to me. First bought a Fly 50 just to tool around the neighborhood, but it was too underpowered for much of anything, imo. A 50cc 4 stroke requiess so much attention it is actually tiring, since it has to run at full throttle so much of the time, and has no engine-braking to speak of...lol. The 12.5 g rollers I think have been a great revision to my 150, as the throttle response is quicker, and the engine-braking seems to have improved at the same time, assisting the brakes coming to a stop. More like a proper ride. Only downside is having to get a full motorcycle license and pay a bit more expensive registration fees.

I pedaled a long way to 2 dealerships north of Quebec City. One was Adly-all 2 stroke, Likely loud and fumey. The other Piaggio and Aprilia-bigger wheels for higher speed, all 4 stroke-I think I prefer the latter.

I own a 50cc scooter that was manufactured in England but the company is Benzhou. The scooter is a beast. And my dream was to own a Vespa, or a Piaggio Liberty. But thanks to your video, I thought to myself, why buy a Italian scooter if it is made in Vietnam? I think this video has changed my mind about the idea of owning an Italian scooter. My scooter is in perfect condition, I park it in my living room during the winter… and it will do 60 mph in a flash. I only have to put maybe $1.50 in gas every 4 months and it will take hills and valleys without any power loss. I thank you for your information on where these scoots are manufactured. Btw, the resale value for my scooter is around a grand or more.

I'm sure you're having a blast on your Benzhou, I'm pretty sure it's made in China. But as long as you're having fun rocking your world, who cares?

From what i have read the Vietnam plan supplies asia while the italian plant supplies the EU and NA with the Liberty. Mine says it was made in Italy.

I was in Saigon VietNam for TET in 2020. The Scooters outnumber the cars maybe 500 to 1. They are very serious about scooters. They are rising Super Power and are very conscience of quality.

I ride an 11 inch wheel Vespa primavera, which I love. I don't however like going over pot holes. Does the larger wheel make a big difference. The liberty is not good looking like a Vespa, also max miles on a tank out of my Vespa Is around 200 miles, in fact I ran out of fuel at 206 I carried a litre under my seat, as I was testing the milage. I tend to fill up at 160 to 170 miles. Top speed is 67 mph provided it's just me with no head wind and it's flat.

@@1960ARC Yes the bigger wheel does make a difference when driving over potholes. With that said you will get better gas mileage with the Vespas. I also prefer the look of the Vespa but of course you are going to pay more for it. It all depends on personal preference and of course your budget.

I like 12” wheels better than 14” to 16” wheels due to the 12” being easier to handle. Being a little higher makes it a little harder to correct if needed.

@@TravisKearney My primavera has 11 inch wheels. I really wish it had 12 inch. However I do love riding my Vespa. I think the sprint of the same period has 12 inch wheels.

1960ARC Ive had quite a few scooters with 12” - 16” wheels. Some with different sizes as well like 13” and 14”. 12” wheels are much more nimble and easier to control in my opinion. I liken it to a camera tripod. The taller it is, the easier it is to tip over with a slight nudge to the top as opposed to a smaller one that has a smaller, stronger base, and needs a little more of a push to topple over.
