📝 Paul “Tchan-Tchou” Vidal (1923-1999) was one of the most respected musicians of the “Southern school” of the Gypsy guitar.
“Tchan-Tchou” Vidal stood stylistically between the swing manouche and popular music. It’s noteworthy to mention that his father occasionally performed with Django Reinhardt in Lyon in the 1940s. In the French scene, he is considered one of the most important guitarists in the succession of Reinhardt.
🎹 As a pianist, I struggled to find piano arrangemts of Manouche/Gyosy music, so I’ve ventured to make my own! Since I’m classically trained, I present my Manouche arrangements with a classical touch. I hope you enjoy this video!
