To Mr. Kavanagh , I don't know if you read the comments or not , but just wanted to say to you , "Bravo sir !" . You handled this so well you showed off as you do , and as you were you could see on the old mans face a look as if he was about to question his own abilities and life work as a teacher who was being bested by what he thought was someone who just wanted to learn a bit . You showed him up , but then at at the end you asked for sugestion from him and allowed him to continue to feel relevant . That Sir was one of the kindest acts of humanity that I have seen in quite some time . Yes "BRAVO" for sure .

He's a lovely man. He is only trying to help Brendan read music. Many classical trained musicians do think that by reading music one can play anything, so he is trying to help him expand his talent. I wouldn't mind having him as my teacher. For improvisation skills and rhythmic I would definitely go for Dr K, though. They would complement each other nicely.

2:44, the look of "I've been pranked". Of course he plays along with the joke as can be seen towards the end. Good sport he is.
@pochadeboxpainting38434 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed this. There are those like Brendan who have this mystic way of playing anything in a way that is beyond the comprehension of us dot readers, but I found myself laughing at how the dot reader was more concerned with how the sheet music wasn't followed. That's what we are like. We dont understand improvisation. We play by reading shapes. He wasn't saving face, he remained concerned that brendan hadn't read the music

I started teaching myself piano about 5 years ago. After about 3 years I decided to have some lessons. By this point had no technique but I have a good ear and was quite good. Woman I went to was like this guy, had zero interest in what level I was and what I had done before. She wanted to have me go right from the beginning and spent about an hour showing me to put my thumb on c and play with one finger. It was at that point t I said sod this and didnt go back. I am still teaching myself, writing music and learning by ear and getting better and most importantly enjoying which unfortunately teachers like this and mine make it very hard to do
