Theory: they planed to do close-up first and then switch to full frame. They animated closeup correctly and director decided to switch it so they said "screw it" and slopped the full frame animation.

I feel like they were gonna animate it correctly but ended up deciding on showing the scene at a different time from the audio which then offset the animation.

Well, as soon as the video starts, we can see that the keyboard is not exactly like the ones we usually have (the black keys come in pairs, instead of the 3-2 arrangement), so we can say it is another instrument and it is animated correctly

The extra clapping could have been from his other hand behind his back, and the synth race is capable of doing the secret "one hand clapping" technique.

You forgot he was playing a synth, so it would sound much different from a normal piano and could easily sould like how the audio did, especially with a light projection based synth which could easily rearrange the keys to however he deems fit

wouldn't make sense with the black keys and intervals but also since it's light projection based maybe it's just whatever he it should sound like.

Because ANime (as a genre, obviously not EVERY show) is known for not hand-animating or Computer-generating-frame-by-frame their musical instrument sequences but instead rotoscoping/motion-capturing people playing instruments instead and just drawing over the video.

honestly it is very understandable for studios to not animate such precise actions ,cuz hands are like what of the most difficult things to draw, then you add on the consistent positioning, man.... that's a hell of a time.

I can't guarantee he'll see this but if you're wondering if the animation is correct, it's very bad. Even the really easy 3 notes at 12:02 were wrong, the notes that sounded were G C D G, but she played D A B D. They aren't even the same intervals. The rest of the timestamps looked like a T Rex trying to play piano

People are asking for too much, it's hard enough working for the animation industry and to have people complain about instrument accuracy just goes to show how little experience and care they have for animation
