I found your discussion of the chair with a back very helpful. It’s a great idea, yet I’ve never thought about the possibility. I’ve just accepted the fact that a pianist is supposed to suffer the absence of low back support! I now have another option to consider.

I've been wanting a piano chair due to back pain, and I just ordered the chair you got from Fredericks. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong chair. It's a hard chair, not a cushioned one. I'm going to have to find a cushion for it. Your chair looks so comfortable. I hope I can make this one more comfortable with a cushion. It's a sturdy chair.

Good advice. I made my own bench with back supports and it makes a difference. I used high resiliency foam with a high Indentation Load Deflection (I.L.D.) factor, so the foam is firm and dense.
