Great lesson, as usual. I wasn't aware of the gospel scale until you mentioned it. A quick search revealed that it's simply an A blues scale but starting on the second note (C). Very cool sounding.

Great video! I suppose we can use this formula and basically play anything out of the Real Books by playing root, 3rd, 7th in the left hand, then melody and the 5th in the right.

Exactly! The shell approach works across almost all songs and styles.

and I'm sure you also have a lesson that could show us how we can replace dominant7ths with 9ths or 13ths, and straight minor chords with m7ths?

Hey Jonny, love all of your vids, was just wondering what chords accompany the following notes spanning let's say over 2 octaves, C D E Eb G A C, simple triads work well (Dm G C & A ) I'm after some thing more fuller and richer and cut it back to just 2 chords

alternating 3-7, 7-3 works with chromatic moves too.
