Limitations always create the most creativity

Chris, thanks for posting. One of the reasons we set up The Art Channel is precisely to share exhibitions like this one especially with people in Britain and around the world who cannot travel to see these shows. We are based in London where many of this country's major art museums are located and where we make most of our films. They own the big collections and have the resources to mount big exhibitions especially of artworks being loaned from abroad. We feel that these institutions are not properly sharing these exhibitions online and do it in unsatisfactory ways. But we are currently self-funding and so have limited funds. The Art Channel is presently presenting the films to the KZfaq audience which tend to watch films for only 3 to 4 minutes at best. We try to find a middle ground between making a brief film and hour long television documentaries. In time, we hope to be able to offer more variety in the films we produce and their length. Our goal is also to film more exhibitions outside London. To date, we have filmed at Chatsworth House and Nottingham Contemporary and our latest film on Richard Long was made in Norfolk. But the points you make about 'cultural elitism' are fair ones in terms of the advantage London residents have but that's a much bigger subject. Thanks for watching The Art Channel.

its very kind of you to respond, i'm sorry i have been getting more and more "soap-box" about this issue for a long time so excuse my rather uncouth rant...!! the internet is the primary hub of our culture now.....yet the major galleries in london seem to think that london is the centre of the universe and all cultural interest ends on the borders of chelsea and kensington!!! i am extremely grateful for what you are doing but be assured there is a rapacious appetite out here for access to those gorgeous art shows going on up there in the metropolis and be very much aware that there is a growing army of us that watch youtube exclusively for our cultural fix now that television has yielded entirely to mindless, endless gameshows...there is a burgeoning growth in lectures and discussions on all aspects of art arriving on youtube and the days of the 3 minute youtube mindset are long gone...many of us think nothing of absorbing youtube offerings at lengths of 1-2 hours nowadays....but still the major galleries fail to use youtube to proliferate their gallery content and contemporary shows.....you have begun and more power to you...i will follow you and post you onward to facebook and i'll hope in time you will explore increasing the length and depth of these excellent studies....many thanks to you and my very best wishes...

I can clearly see how you been struggling with the talk about Picasso art. You are more confident to talk about American art and Abstract painting there you are more fluent and not repeating yourself. In Picasso, you do not even cover the most important reasons of the Blue time of his art. In fact, you have been metaphoric not the symbolic in Picasso painting.Picasso always uses a symbol and they were always related to his real life but in his paintings, he redirecting them into objects, shapes, colours, animals or even to letters, number and words ... This video and your way how you introducing the Picasso it's a poor fiasco. Do you not listen that where you keep repeating yourself in all of his artworks?
