John Beaudin has been in major market radio (Edmonton, Vancouver & Calgary) for 38 years and a music journalist since 1989. He graduated from Broadcasting school as a newsman so he would have the skills to write about the artists that inspired him since he bought his first Elton John album as a teen. In the '80s Beaudin was the host of the syndicated radio show ‚”The Cross Canada Report‚” which had two versions (Rock and A/C). Beaudin was also asked to be a judge at the Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammys) Twice. He has anchored every position in radio including morning and afternoon drive and was a Program and Music Director for The Breeze and California 103 in Calgary. He currently hosts the evening show at Move 103.5 (formerly QM-FM) in Vancouver and on iHeartRadio.

Nice to hear from a musician whose doesn't have an inflated ego. You might say he realized that you may be a legendary musician, but you're gonna have to serve somebody. ;)

Loved Pick Withers. He gave Dire Straits a unique sound. The band didnt sound the same after he left.

Agreed. Although I love all of Mark's work, the Straits albums miss Pick's voice after he left.

Amazing Album! Best concert I ever saw was Dylan at the Akron Civic Theatre during the “Saved” tour. I had the honor of ushering that and so I made my way down front. Mr. Withers... anything with his name tied to it was really good.

Pick is the First drummer I’ve EVER heard say, “different sticks, different textures”…every other drummer is focused on the head, the drum….well I’m a woodworker who turns my own sticks - African Pink Ivory imparts a very different texture on a ride cymbal than Padauk; than chakte viga…..but 99% of the commercially available sticks are hickory - and 16” is a child’s toy compared to an 18” stick Pick, I’d be honored to send you some sticks…..”Wild West End” is why I bought my first drum set

Interesting man. I have met and talked to musicians, Harry Chapin for example and I guess he being who he was as a person, it was like talking to an old friend. I think some may change how they treat someone after finding out who a musician is but not everyone. I suppose it is a matter of experience and personality.

When he said diffetent sticks I couldn't help thinking about celery sticks. Just my weird imagination I suppose. Might be good on ballads, who knows?

I don't get what he's saying when he says Dylan has "all these people there" and "if you're not there you're not in the record." Of course if you're not there you're not on the record - how could you be? Is he saying Dylan doesn't have musicians uninvolved in the basic tracks come in and do overdubs? Is that what he means? Is he saying that if you're on a break and Dylan wants to record, he'll just go ahead and you won't be on that particular track?

I've heard more people refer to it as God gave names to all the animals instead of the actual title.

So funny to hear Bob Dylan say that. One thing for me as a christian who believes that Man gave names to all the animals..wait did Pick say a different title??..---is that sound has faith. The sound you make reflects your faith. So was Dylan consiouss of that? Interesting anyway😊
