Nice!!! That's really all that I can say Jon... There are no rentals around here, we borrowed one for a few years, spent enough repairing it every year before we could use it..😂🤣 The owner sold out and moved out of state, would have loved to have been able to buy it, but.... It was a 12' great plains. Lifted nice and high!! We put swather tires on it for floatation.. you know you are stuck, when the drill is raised all the way up and the openers are still in the ground!!!

We just picked up an 1860 no till air seeder for what we thought was a a steal. Bought it again fixing the row units Haha. All new blades boots firming wheels gauge wheel rubbers and bearings firming and closing bushings and all seed tube hoses. But it should last us a long time. I better not show you any video of us using it on our well tilled soil lol. Goodluck looks like a nice drill. Ps I'm sitting here in the digger tractor at 3am going back and forth dreaming about no till 😂

Lol. I get so many people that after they have a couple years on one field of soil health weather its five acres for some guys it could be a hundred acres for other guys they all say the same thing. How it feels like such a waste of time when they still do conventional on the rest of their Farm. LOL I never watch their stuff I was just kidding. Seen the thumbnail thought it would be a funny comment. I think the 6000 to 10,000 I saved in price difference will be used up to make it look like new again. But once the row units are rebuilt there should be a lot of Acres that can go under that machine again.

I bought a 750 last year and I love it. Used it for cover crops last fall and oats and soybeans into cornstalks this spring. Worked fantastic. My 1086 pulls it no problem. I bought the drill I did because it has a lot of Needham Ag parts - good upgrades. I'm not too far from you - Princeton - if you want to check out any of the Needham parts.

Looks great. Just finished instilling all my beans. It took a little bit to get 7se to what way would work best for me. But did a great job. I really like the Marten closing wheels I got from Needham. They did a great job closing the the seed in all ground conditions. The OEM was noticeably different and left it open in wetter areas like the grassy field. The V8 firming wheels did get in the trench better. The 8300 drill I traded for this one was able to set the seeding rate up way more precise. I do need the info on setting up the seeding. On the left side it planted 230k and the right side was 190k. I was shooting for 180k. Tinkered with it to shoot for 150k to finish and not run out of seed. Other then that, I loved it.

These are great drills. The only thing missing from yours is the grass seeder. I wonder how much it would be to add one. My 4020 dualed up pulls it just fine but I really liked using a 4250 power shift especially on those chilly fall evenings drilling wheat after soybeans.

Now you got to give us some specifics! width, row spacing? Etc get that drill tuned up right, get some good no-till coulters on it and instead of tillage, You will probably find much like I did... why not just take the drill out and put some cover crop in while you're doing your "no till coulter tillage?". Those fluted coulters chop up residue and flatten a field out better than a disc or a field cultivator on most days. So why not plant a little legume or rye or cover crop while you're out dragging a piece of equipment across your land? Cover crops and soil health fit like a hand in a glove! The more you use that drill to establish soil aggregate and cover crop roots, I think the more you will see less need for tillage and more and more need for no-till grain drill. Good purchase! I look at our drill as one of the most important pieces of equipment on our farm, are drill enables us to plant our own nitrogen in the event we ever have a massive nitrogen shortage, our drill allows us to plant cover crops so we can plant green and crimp with the planter for weed suppression in the event we ever have a massive herbicide shortage. A good grain drill is what every good prepper farmer should have! Lol

Before we had a drill we wondered if we needed one... Now we have owned a drill for a few seasons it's one of the most important pieces of the puzzle to regenerate soil health through cover crops. I have found my drill runs everyday in the spring that it possibly can and every day in the fall that it possibly can. What other piece of equipment can you say that about? soon you'll be more concerned with getting off your combine so you can hop on that drill and chase the combine behind soybean harvest! Austrian winter peas right behind a soy bean combine is a winning combination for the next years crop. Looks like that's a 17.6 footer? You're going to really enjoy the savings on cover crops as you can cut back to about half rate and get better than the same result utilizing the spreader

I hit the shoups 10 percent off in February and keep some needham firming wheels, a couple updated closing arms on hand. I put the shoup boots on wich was a mistake, a couple of them the mounting holes weren't straight and they didn't ride flat against the blades, quality has gone to crap at shoups on some stuff. A guy looks in the parts books and everything is ×24 wich is painfull, so I just did the boots and mounting hole bushing and blades and everything else as they go bad.
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

What did the updated closing arm do for you? I won't get blades or wear items from them. The opener discs on my white planter are from Ingersoll and after 4 years they still look like brand new. After 4 years the ones from schuppe would be having bearings fail and the blades would be showing some wear. Probably can't afford to do a complete Needham Ag rebuild this summer. I am trying to see what it needs for a rebuild.

@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 I beleive its a middle production one just like yours, the previous owner put some aftermarket seals on the closing wheels but everytime I took one apart they'd crack and the bearings where packed full of dirt so they didn't work anyway.
