Thanks for an excellent lesson. I just decided to put in a heel flap and gusset. I've used this garter stitch along the edge before. It's fun to see how different people pick up stitches along that edge. Would love to see the finished socks.

Anyone know of close up videos of heel stitch pickup that show view of all sides for those new to knitting socks? It's is easy to miss something without full view and harder to learn..can't see if going into loop or not. . Another vid said don't go into loop when picking up heel STS. Is that right? And if so when u knit them does yarn go thru these picked up st loops ? I don't see how that would be possible. Also how to know which ones are slipped for those who don't know how to read stitches well
