I bought my 97 f350 back in 2017. Paid 4300 with 26k original miles. Just starting to get rust on the bed. Has 40k now and boy I love this truck.

I have a 94 250 pickup and a 97 550 bucket truck. Both have the 460s. You can always tell the 460s from the exhaust manifold bolts broken and leaking. The 94 I used to pull a camper with and got tired of getting the damned broken studs out. I came off the money and bought a Banks Engineering stainless system on it. The whole thing for the intake kit, trans command and exhaust from heads to tip was 2400 bucks. That was in 2010. No exhaust leaks, no broken bolts and no rust. I went from 12 mpg towing a 6400lb camper to 15+mpg towing the same camper. The trans command forces it to actually use 2nd gear. It also has a ton more torque. No fear of on ramps anymore. I have put 125 k more miles on it no worries. It finally spit the seal out of the factory water pump a couple of years ago. Our family will drive it until the doors fall off. The 550 lost it's water pump a week after the 250. Go figure. It has the requisite exhaust manifold leaks but no more than it gets driven it's fine. The only reason it's tagged and insured is to drive it to the corner and gas it up. I bought it for maintenance and cutting trees around the house. Neuropathy has my feet and legs numb so climbing a ladder is a no go. Both are tough old trucks that will outlast me. Well, maybe not the utility bed on the bucket truck. It's rusting away because they did a crummy job of painting the thing after welding it together. It will be ok. The bed is a convenience item. The bucket system is independent of the bed. I'll put a flat bed on it if necessary. Same as you if he got a good deal on it he has a good truck. Parts are readily available. Mine are keepers. Cheers Terry

Just bought a 94 Chevy 3500 2wd dump stake for a grand running driving top end sounds same as his truck took off valve cover pressed in rocker studs pulling out no easy fix there unless you know of one

It aggrevates me so much everytime I pull up on a beautiful 1 ton dump and then see the big dent in the middle of the tailgate where they dropped the gate all the way down and wedged it against the pintle hitch dumping the body , it's such a preventable injury to them . Worst case of this i have seen was on a brand new stainless steel dump on a 2021 f550 !!! Its made me cringe

I'll take the 1 next to it. Any idea what it cost him? I bought one even better a couple years ago, a1989 Ford F-super duty, which is a 10 lug truck with a 15,000 gvwr. They are so much better built then that little f350. It was 84" cab to axle, 10 foot dump bed with folding sides in good condition. 7.3 idi with a zf5 5 speed manual. It was in really rough shape as for the Ford body. But it ran and drove great! I drove it back from where I bought it. Cost me $650. It was too far gone with rust to save but it was an excellent parts truck.
