Work to prevent pickleball injuries. Let's avoid that tennis elbow or golfers elbow from creeping into our arm. The forearm is a good place to focus some time - minimize elbow pain by having a stronger arm.
In this video series we give you some basic strengthening exercises aimed at pickleball that you can do at home.

Thank you for bringing light to this issue. Working on forearm strengthening didn't touch my years-long case of tennis elbow. After reading that fingers 4 & 5 gripping too tightly could be the cause, I enlarged my paddle grip (an entirely reversible modification if it issn't helpful) and within a week I had no symptoms. Throwing it out there in case it helps someone.

Great Idea. A few of our club members, me included, were experiencing soreness around the elbow this winter. Now I’ve got a use for those Thera-bands I’ve got sitting around when watching TV in the evening. Thanks again!

Tony, I've committed to using a 16-20 oz. Glass stain filled with approximately 20 oz. Or greater of an Adult foamy beverage. I grip, raise, drink n repeat. When the Stein becomes "light" I refill to increase weight and do another set. Oddly, after several hours I dont feel anything...

Thanks for the tips on how to isolate the muscles in the lower arm. Great idea to use common household items, but don't confuse liquid volume with actual weight. 16 oz. of water is slightly more than 16 oz weight(plus the container) As you move to larger volumes, the weight difference grows also. I'm nitpicking-it's a common misconception.Keep those videos coming ! I have the same compression sleeve-I like that the cuff that is able to be folded over to provide a greater amount of compression to the upper forearm area. .

Very informative layman video, Tony! I'm a medical massage therapist and while I would probably over explain, flexion, extension, pronation, supination, LOL, you have done a great job in presenting some really good exercises in a simple manner. Probably 3/4 of my pickleball friends have elbow issues. Sometimes paddle weight can make a difference as well as changing swing technique. I recently began using the Kinetic Pro paddle and that has reduced many of my elbow issues. Thanks again!! :)

Lefty, On a more serious note. Because I have a slice backhand and sometimes over chop. I suffer hyperextension and associated pain at the anconeus and common extensor muscle. I think these exercises are a good place to start. I think it's all related to the fact that few if not fewer of us warm up before play. I do my best to get warm as I get ready to leave the house. Maybe you can put out a video on warm up? Ciao-

@@BestPickleballCoach I'm around. living the dream out here in "soggy so. cal.".... :) We just got a new facility here in the area, "The Hub"... Some $$ guys from Newport Beach put together a nice facility. Formerly a tennis club that had gone to waste (literally) and now they brought it back as a Pickleball center... Still working on the City of San Diego for a "proper" site, but this is a good alternative. Coaching is going NUTS!!! I may end up building my own court..?? You gotta try and get out here this Spring/Summer... Take care... Kev-
