Well recorded video and demonstration, Steve's footwork and hand control strength are excellent which demonstrated was in this video. 1. He lowered his body and bended his knee to hit the ball in the air ( to let the opponent has less reaction time according to what he said), 2. Is not easy to get the PB over the net when the ball is still in the air, because of the weight and spins of the ball ( this need years of practice and judgement). 3. Hitting the 1st timing dinking shot is not easy either as the timing of hitting the ball and the footwork movement have to be well-coordinated. Well done Pickleball Channel and Steve to make such a great video for us. 2 thumbs up!!!

No reason to be cruel, Josh. A LOT of players take a while to get this straight. Good answer from the Pickleball Channel. Interesting advice. I''ll definitely have to try it.

Steve, I like to always take the ball out of the air. But I find if I am working my way to the net, taking the ball out of the air leads to a high ball and of course a pickleball sandwich. Maybe I should be short hopping the ball if possible while moving up to the net?

Don Geo dude are you dumb his taking about taking it out of the air in the kitchen and about dunking lmao not while your moving to the net. Your an idiot

Briana Ronan What's wrong with asking the question? You gotta make your way to the kitchen before you dink. Sometimes you hit the best return sometimes you dont. I'm a 4.0 and looking to cut down on unforced errors. What are you working on?

You are coming very close to stepping into the NVZ before the bounce
@godgunsandgoldens
@godgunsandgoldens 3 жыл бұрын
You can step into NVZ anytime you want as long as you re-establish both feet out of zone before volleying. In other words if you know a high pop up is going to land in your NVZ you can wait in the kitchen for it to bounce before putting it away.

I'm new to pickleball and was reading some rules. One of the rules said it's a fault if your momentum after a shot carries you into the kitchen. Is this true? This video seems to contradict that.
@toms9864
@toms9864 3 жыл бұрын
It is true if you hit a volley and your momentum carries you into the non-volley zone or better known as the kitchen. A volley is defined as a ball that hasn't bounced.

When ball bounces in kitchen is it ok to step in with both feet to hit ball back and then get out right away? Or can only 1 foot go in and second foot has to stay behind line?
@lowdownslicer9684
@lowdownslicer9684 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can step in with both feet.

Its quicker to get one foot out rather than two before the ball comes back to you so try and use only one foot in the kitchen so you can quickly get back out. You can stay in there as long as you want with two feet but you want to get out before hitting the ball again.

I'm a newbie and I am having the hardest time keeping score, I just can't seem to get it.Any ideas? That and when to shift sides of the court, there's so many people telling me different things, it's con fusing.

Can you cover who takes the middle of the court ball. Is it always the for hand? How do ladies handle poachers diplomatically?
@godgunsandgoldens
@godgunsandgoldens 3 жыл бұрын
Poaching is good tactic when done correctly. No reason for ladies to resent it. If player is pinned in backcourt and partner moves over mid-line to put away ball intended on keeping his partner from advancing for winner that’s an excellent shot his teammate should appreciate.

Does the ball have to bounce before you can step into the kitchen to meet the ball?
@PickleballChannel
@PickleballChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick thanks for watching. No, you can go into the kitchen before, as long as you don’t hit a volley. If the ball bounces, you are all good.

I noticed his foot enters/steps into the kitchen "before" the ball hits, is that legal??

Have you ever played pickle-ball before? He steps into the nvz to hit the ball after it bounces. That is one of the most basic rules of the game.
@PickleballChannel
@PickleballChannel 7 жыл бұрын
Actually yes! You can stand in the kitchen all day long as long as you hit the ball after it bounces. The only rule is that you can only hit the ball after it bounces. It doesn't matter when you step into the kitchen.

I had a question, it looks like you are stepping into the kitchen a few seconds before the ball even bonces in the kitchen. I thought we had to wait till in actually bounced? Or if it is obvious that is will be bouncing in he kitchen is it then okay to step in before like this. I mean it is very close on the video, but in some cases it does look like your stepping in a bit before.

Rule 9.E. A player may step on the non-volley line or enter the non-volley zone at any time except when that player is volleying the ball. There is no violation if your partner returns the ball while you are standing in the non-volley zone. A player may enter the non-volley zone before or after returning any ball that bounces.
@bradymann7319

I agree that his foot is across the line before the ball bounces. The response applies to partner, not the volleying player.

If you know its going to bounce in the kitchen, you are better off getting in the kitchen ab be ready when it bounces. Many times people cause and error because they think they cant step into the kitchen. When you absolutely know it's going to bounce in the kitchen the sooner you are there waiting for it and feet planted, you will be more successful returning it over the net, then get out ready for the volley.

Okay, stop with the secrets thing. Good info. though. IMO hit the dink diagonally, you have a longer runway to land.
