Kind of interesting to me that your favorite Mark Napartovich has about the laziest ready position but still makes it work. Your advice is good. I am just pointing it out as interesting. I used to coach girls in volleyball and there was one girl would not get into the legs slightly bent and arms forward in receiving position. She would stand straight up with her hands at her side but still was quicker to the ball and dug more balls than anyone else. Kind of drove me nuts. Anyway Mark seems to be the equivalent to that girl in pickleball.

That's a good point. I think it's his years of top level table tennis that allows him to get away with it. Thanks for watching.

The player in red could possibly have some physical mobility issue or back issues and has a hard time bending. He looks fairly tall. He could be in pain also and may think he is able to do more than he can. The dilemma may be that he really wants to be active and play a fun sport such as pickleball but he must realize his limitations. He looks older than his partner and have less mobility. I think he is trying and could use some weight training to strengthen his legs and arms. Maybe some lessons also.

Yeah, guy in red may not be in great shape, but that doesn't excuse him from not adhering to the basics; get in to position after hitting a return (hit it higher and deeper if there is a mobility issue- personally looks like lack of effort to me), hold the paddle out in front of you in ready position, and bend those knees. I don't care if it's just a fun rec game- no excuse for not putting in the effort.

They don’t look like they’re having much fun in this ‘fun’ rec game though, particularly not red shirt’s partner 😂 Kudos to White & Gray shirts to hit balls mostly to Blue. At least they try to get in some play with Blue. Thanks for commentary Rory…I know it’s hard as hard as this is to watch 😅 Im a subscriber to your channel and like your commentary.

Unfortunately in our club, there's a few players who are not competitive who think they are, and play during our listed "competitive" times. No one wants to play with them, but they're in rotation and so....play we do; and it's hard even playing AGAINST them. I mean, c'mon, it's not fun winning 11-1, game over in 8 minutes. I will generally try to hit more balls to the better player, just to have some actual play. Sometimes my partner (whoever that may be) will tell me to hit to the dud player, pretty much just focused on win win win. I'd rather play some good rallies and be challenged by the better player. I don't know....I guess playing well and NOT going for all kill shots to the dud player is more important to me than winning winning winning. Now, if the "dud" happens to be a very good player and is not in the mood to energize him/herself, then yeah....wake them up with some hard shots, but some people Just. Can't. Move. and there's no point in crucifying them over and over. But boy, I wish they would realize what kind of a player they really are and play during the appropriate social play times. That's the crux of the matter, no?

Pretty much spot on. Whenever there is a paddle rack system of play, sometimes you have to sacrifice quality playing time to play against inferior opponents. I do it occasionally, but, most of the time I am very careful to make sure I put my paddle in with players on my level. Thanks for watching.

I realize I sounded pretty harsh now that I read my comment over. Ugh on me. I just so happened to have had a frustrating couple days with that scenario. It's usually not a big deal and we all enjoy each other, and God knows I have plenty of off days. So this is a small thing in a world full of bigger things! Have a good day!

In open rec play in my area, there is, pretty much, always a chance of playing with someone who's focusing on the social aspect, and not on their game, or even improving their game. The guy in red may be one of those. Nice job on the pick-apart!

You're welcome. Thanks for watching. Yes, some players play to compete. Some players play for exercise. Some players play to socialize. I'm just too competitive not to give it my all. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. LOL!

Wow. Pickleball pick apart turned into pickleball pick on the guy in red. Criticizing his glove and grip and mobility and effort. I have no idea what he may or may not have going on. As his partner you can break him down or build him up. I always choose the latter. And boy it’s fun when you can pull out a team win like that. Hey, red shirt guy…great job for getting out for some activity! Kudos

Great job Rory. Just not enough energy in the guy in red. I’m not sure he could do a lot better even applying to his game the instruction you shared. Just felt like slow motion to me.

Yes. Maybe he was just worn out. I just wanted to give an example of how to react quicker and be in a ready position.

Hey, you gave a shout out to the Legacy and Gearbox paddle, how about a shout out to the CRBN paddle that the red shirted player was playing. It so happens to be the brand of the paddle I am playing with, it is an outstanding paddle, lots of spin, plenty of feel, and medium powered. I think it is just the nature of the player in red, he is kind of lax and low key, but looking at his belly, I think he is a case of heart attack in waiting.

Ouch. The comment about his beer gut was harsh, although sadly, you're probably right. At least he's getting some exercise, better than sitting on the recliner all day.

@@Vanessa-pe2xs , I didn’t mean any ill will toward the player in red, I hope he reads my post and does more than pickleball to get into a better shape. It could be a life and death matter. Mind you, pickleball is a good start.

Yes, CRBN is an excellent choice, even though I think they are a little overpriced. They sell for $229. I have a Six Zero Double Black Diamond that I paid, with a discount code, $162 for. So, I paid $67 less for a paddle I feel is just as good as and perhaps better than the CRBN. Which one do you have? The 1X, 2X or 3X?
@kenlocke9806

@@pickleballpick-apart9787 , mine is a couple years old before the X series. It is the original CRBN elongated shape, 16 mm. I come from a tennis background, I prefer a larger handle which the 16mm offered. Even though I hold my paddle with a Continental grip, I do a micro grip change to hit a full backhand and forehand from the back court, at the kitchen line, I would keep that Continental grip for most shots except the put away shot.

the partner of the guy in red has good game, but when you know your partner is the problem, you start pressing. We've all been there.

3:20 If he's been playing with his teammate for a game or so...shouldn't the near team be Poaching for the "lazy" player? I'd be all over that. 4:18 I'm in 7th grade...I'd have a hard time.

Bro relax this guy is just chilling playing pickle ball. It's not that serious. You're focusing on the wrong things that spread bad culture in the pickle ball world. And with this specific guy, maybe he's just playing with his friend or they all know each other.
