Would you prefer citric acid or alum? I've seen solution recipes that ask for both.

You are in fact fixing the hair in your pickle because you are using alum as an acid . It is in fact aluminium sulphate which is a tanning agent. It is used to tan cricket ball leather. Just thought you’d like to know.

How many times can you use a pickle solution? After it sets a few days using it looks like it has stuff trying to grow on the top just wondering if you ever had that problem.

I use a Rubbermaid large tub and I only use it to do all my furs for that season, dump it out....average 12-15 furs depending....but i keep in it a cool place to keep any fugus from growing...

You'll need alum or citric acid to fasten the hair to the hide if you wanna keep the fur....thanks for stopping in.

Dude you have to maintain a PH of 3 in your acid bath throughout the pickling process. Alum is a tanning process, not a pickling process. You need to include that in your presentation, other wise you can get bacteria growth and possible hair slippage.

You telling this guy stuff like u know what your talking about but 3 is too high. 1.5-2 is where you need the pH
