Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore | The best things to do see and eat so you won't waste your time

We continue our Lake Superior Circle Tour from Grand Marais, Michigan to Marquette focusing on the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There is no shortage of natural beauty in this area but if you are short on time this is the video for you. We have done the research and are highlighting
the best hikes, beaches and overlooks to see to experience the limitless beauty of Pictured Rocks with limited time. We start the day in Grand Marais, Michigan and travel down the shoreline of Lake Superior to Munising. Prepare for a day filled with breathtaking landscapes, as we explore the iconic sandstone formations at Miners Castle, and Chapel Rock. We take in the breathtaking views at the Log Slide Overlook and see some stunning waterfalls at Sable falls and Chapel Falls. We also try the regional cuisine - pasties - and learn a bit about their history. Weather did change our plans a bit - so we had time to bring you the quirky attraction that is Lakenland.

The drive across the middle of the U.P. is very scenic, whether you follow US-2 along the north shore of Lake Michigan, or follow along the south shore of Lake Superior past Whitefish Point then right down the middle on M-28 to the Seney Stretch. Well, if you like pine trees and being surrounded by the Hiawatha National Forest along a flat straight stretch of road that feels like a hundred miles long😁 There are lighthouses to see on either shore like Crisp Point west of Whitefish Point and Point Iroquois, or Seul Choix light and Manistique Breakwater light if you follow Lake Michigan westbound along US-2. Either way has some nice roadside stops and attractions. But when you finally get to Grand Marais and see the Grand Sable Dunes for the first time, and see Miner's Castle and the Pictured Rocks and Grand Island.... you get to see some of the prettiest spots in Michigan! And you can go out to see the Au Sable lighthouse too! And then you get to look forward to visiting Marquette and Presque Isle and the Keweenaw Peninsula (if you have time for visiting that great area and get all the way up to Copper Harbor!) and eventually the Porcupine Mountains and the Lake of the Clouds if you get that far west!

George you are so right - so many lovely things to see and never enough time! We were able to go to the Keweenaw Peninsula - video coming on Sunday. Our first time all the way up to Copper Harbor and we feel like there is still so much more to see. Already planning a fall trip back to see the Porcupine Mountains and Lake of the clouds.

@@Lovenesters fall colors on the Keweenaw Peninsula and at the Porcupine Mountains are incredible! Sure you will see more fog along Lake Superior during fall color season but that adds a different flavor of beauty when you get to watch the fog rolling off of Brockway Mountain or see Eagle Harbor Lighthouse emerging from the gray peasoup with it's red beacon flashing. I actually got some nighttime video of that where all you can see is the flashing red beacon stabbing out into the night fog. And some awesome pics of fall colors at Lake of the Clouds. We spent a fall color week in a rental cabin in Calumet which is so central to everything you would want to see up there. Halfway to everywhere up there.

Are you referring to copper peak in Ironwood? That place is incredible. We were there this weekend. Video will be out by end of month. Terrifying but a hidden gem for sure.
