As always Prof. Hoodbhoy comes up with sharp rational arguments. Thanks for this enlightening debate and some time in India I doubt if we can have such debates on our religious exuberance. More fundamental question: is this book available in India either paper version or Kindle?

Pakistanis are the most tolerant people in the world. Usually I hear Hindu baniya, Hindu Kaffir, Ghazwa-e-hind, lal qile par jhanda phrases on Pakistani discussions. These are all phrases of love and tolerance. Also see how Pakistanis have treated Hindus, bengalis, Shias, Balochs, Pashtuns, Sikhs, Parsis, Jews, Christians, Ahmadis, and now Afghans. No one will call Pakistanis intolerant.

And this Maulana Hoodbhoy really doesn't know about Sushruta does he? He was all praise for ancient Chinese inventions the other day at the Black Hole while restricting ancient Indian achievements only to mathematics - not realizing that such things could not arise except in the context of an overall complex society. These guys will die happy that India is going down the 'same path as them' while ignoring all the signs that there are important differences. There is nothing wrong in Break-up of Pakistan into 5 pieces, Bangladesh me bhi tarrakki Pakistan se alag ho kar hi ki thi, Agar Aaj Balochistan Pakistan se alag ho jaye toh Apne dam par tarakki kar sakta hai, Sindh Alag ho jaye toh Karachi bhi tarraki apne Dam par kar sakta hai. Azaad Kashmir Hindustan ko de diya jaye toh wahan bhi tarakki ho sakti hai, Par Punjab ki hukumat ke rehte na Bangladesh tarakki kar paya tha, aur na Pakistan kabhi tarrakki kar payega. Honest and humane point of view of our two countries. I see the comments from India, the hate for muslims has become so deep . I am an Indian myself. I used to feel the same discomfort when i first heard different opinions. I was very angry at all these people (chomsky, Tariq ali, arundhati roy etc). I wanted them to be wrong . But as i read about history, i thought how would i feel in early 1900s if i was a minority, Wouldn't i want security and equality for my family after the british left, wouldn't i want to decide for myself if i lived in kashmir. If indians had the right to self determination,then same applies to Kashmir. I have since changed my thinking. It has been very difficult and uncomfortable, it is still an ongoing process. Recently seeing hindutva inspired indians justifying and cheering Israel's genocide in Palestine, it has broken my heart. Dr Hoodbhoy , you are an inspiration for me. I am preparing to be a teacher so that maybe i can help young people resist the hate that I was subjected to. Love from India ❤

In 1947 Pakistan had 20.5% Sikhs and Hindus. Today less than 1% are Sikhs and Hindus. India had less than 10% Muslims. Now India has almost 15% Muslims. This increase is due to very hight birth rate of Muslims and influx of Muslim refugees from Bangladesh and Myanmar. Pakistan should steps to Invite Indian Muslims to come and settle in Pakistan. So does Dr Hoodbhoy disclaim the Ashoka Dynasty ( 250 BCE)and or the Gupta Dynasty ( 450 CE)which was surely before Bin Qasim invades Sindh (712 CE) …. By the maps most of North East frontier were either part of the Gupta or Ashoka dynasty … much before Bin Qasim arrived in the Sub continent .. or for that matter how does he he justify the fact that an invader an Anglo Saxon, is “Sikander-a-Azam” while the ruler at that time “Porus” who defended the homeland is never even acknowledged and lastly what about the Mohenjadaro heritage which was much before …. almost 5000 years back

Hoodboy needs to answer why the British cozied to Jinnah and Babasaheb Ambedkar. Babasaheb Ambedkar was possibly more politically mature than Jinnah.. After independence of India he became the Chairperson of the Constitution Drafting Committee and bestowed all the facilities on to the people he thought he represented. However on the otherhand Jinnah let down the people whom he thought he represented.
