What are the possible #investment choices available to anyone in Pakistan, be it a local investor or any foreigner? The country lacks instruments for investment. #EconFest
While many blame #RealEstate, there is really no real estate market in the country. Plots in outlying areas are considered real estate because inner-city development is disallowed.
- Housing societies are liberally allowed while other investments are discouraged. These societies take decades to develop, tying up capital that could be better utilized if allowed to circulate.
- #Government bonds and bills though offering good returns often remain below inflation and subject to #ExchangeRate risk.
- Banks offer few products as they are looking at riskless government paper.
- Other financial markets are either over-regulated or disallowed.
- The stock exchange has limited float as most #businesses are family-owned and small.
- Government policy risks are high curbing company #growth.
- Exploitation and #harassment by various government agencies and #regulators make investment insecure in Pakistan, thus scaring away any potential for FDI while pushing the local investors to explore investment opportunities abroad.
- Commodity #markets for agriculture products have not been organized.
- Bureaucratic holds have captured the downtown and inner-city #development.
- #Deregulation of these to modern standards could be a source of significant - #FDI in various high-rise real estate projects. #EconFest

I think the problem in Pakistan is that people are more focused on their speaking accents rather than the content they share.

Than you should follow the channel that offer batter contact and not focus on their accent.😒

The best place to invest is in Generals who are about to retire. They will find some profitable place.

None of the speakers gave clear statement where a common person can invest his limited savings and this session should be in urdu language so that most of the population can understand the conversation.

Sir what about FBR representatives, who come to our banks and grab all money, due any so called “tax non payment” charges etc. People are afraid to place money in banks or with Govt, as FBR would annex that money.

It is sad to see speakers with less vision and knowledge. Please be prepared when you come to present your core areas.

This video presentation could be endured even with all the high-sounding jargon if the investors are inhabiting a country with a dynamic economic sector. But the investors are stuck in a bankrupt state. The representatives of this army state--yes, in fact a Jihadi state--- goes to the I.M.F every year just to avoid bankruptcy. Money is borrowed just to pay off the debt along with interest. The word "infrastructure" is an alien word in Jinnah's Muslims ghetto. How to talk of infrastructure if there is no money to maintain an already existing infrastructure. In vacuum, the Casino economy fills in. State Bank is also expected to do tutorial sessions informing the Ill-informed. These colonials may wish to flaunt their expensive credentials but the investors know better. So do the viewers. Do make allowance to the dildos who would endure this entire video.
