I see that you set the sump up so it could be run independent of the tank. When I had aquariums with sumps I did the same thing Great minds think alike. it also means you can circulate more water through the filter without changing the water flow though the aquarium maximizing the bio mass. This also means in the event you need to shut down your tank the filter can continue to run maintaining the bio mass. Doubt I'll ever get back into the aquariums. Wish we had youtube went I was a kid.

I would love to see a cut away of that double reducer overflow thingy that you made in the second part of the clip (or even a diagram). That said, the glass one is infinitely cooler though it would inevitably become opaque with algae.

This design is genius in so many ways!!!!! Do you have simple diagrams on how to build the whole system. I love the hanging sealed overflow. I'm planning a build of a large aquarium that hopefully I will be doing this year and I have been wanting to go back to an overflow system or a box filter above the main tank as I find both work the best. Canisters just don't seem to work as well and are cumbersome to maintain as they never truly fit in stand the way you want them to unless you build the stand yourself as well. My aquarium stand is a bottom piece to a dining hutch set, converted with interior support for an aquarium, preserving the classy look of the stands exterior. The plan I have is to custom build the tank and filtration system to function with the stand without cumbersome access to everything. So, I am wanting a very simple and straight forward design with redundancies built in for everything. This design is exactly what I'm looking for!!!!! SUBSCRIBED Salamat Po Kuya!

Very clever ideas for overflow. Cool idea with the adjusting of 90% and 10% water flow. Both ideas are working at same principle right? Water flow down into a container, then fill the container before overflowing into the aqual downpipe to the sump? I am woundering what size of pipe you are using for the pipe only overflow system. I plan on running about 2500 l/h thro my sump for my 720 l tank. Are these ideas silent?
