Filmed in The Casino at Melbourne - was fortunate to be invited to melbourne for the premiere of die another day the james bond movie in 2002 where I got to meet Pierce Brosnan!!! He was the perfect gentleman - suave, stylish and so polite. This final third segment contains interview with Lee Tamahori the director and WITH PIERCE BROSNAN - JAMES BOND 007 himself!!!!!! It's a rare interview not seen outside of India, so please share and rate it 5 stars please!!

The movie took lots of risks. Some paid off; some did not. I think it is one of the most memorable Bond movies. Brosnan was born to play Bond and should have years earlier. He was awesome in The Ghost Writer.

I think Pierce took a lot of creative risks for this Bond movie. 007 gets captured by North Korea, tortured every which way during the BEGINNING credits! I felt bad for Pierce, and I don't always worry for James Bond. You're not supposed to feel scared for James Bond. You're supposed to not feel anything while Bond kicks ass with the villain of his choice. Yet Pierce pulls it off beautifully, and I like his approach to the character. He seems to accept the responsibility of actually being 007, which means he's a role model, which for any actor is a huge responsibility not many in Hollywood are embracing well. Of all the Bonds, Pierce Brosnan is the most humble and the most emotive on camera, which is actually a plus even Roger and Sean can admire in Pierce. (And who cares how Timothy feels about it. He never liked being role model to anyone.) Pierce rules!

Die Another Day started like a psychological thrillerish Bond film, Bond gets captured, tortured, disavowed and cast aside, emotionally a much higher plane than any recent Bond film, there was a great opportunity there to analyse Bond as this beaten down, PTSD ridden agent who seeks revenge, maybe Bond could've kept his ruggish look throughout the film, who knows?

Brosnan should have done one more. A "back to basics" Bond like For Your Eyes Only or Licence To Kill. And it would have been even more awesome if John Glen decide to direct a Bond film, after being away from it so long. The producers are chumps.

Love this comment. I long wanted Brosnan to do a fifth and sixth Bond film, which is impossible now, but the idea of John Glen returning for a FYEO-esque entry would have been fantastic with Brosnan in the role.

"They asked me back for a 5th bond. I said yes and I'm glad I said yes." Okay now i have been looking all over KZfaq trying to find a video that explains that whole story. In some articles he said he quit the role cuz he didn't want to make the same mistake Roger Moore made by doing the role over 50. Then in one or two interviews he has spite over being "booted" out of the role after this film.

his contract included 3 films and the option for a 4. After the success of Die Another Day he was invited to do the fifth and it seems that the writers were adapting Casino Royale with him in mind. Then it seems that the producers have decided they want a younger Bond. Reading the interviews at that time this had come out. several times he said he had received a phone call from his agents saying that negotiations with the producers had been interrupted and that they would call him to say this. And then a week later the producers called and said they wanted a younger Bond. I honestly think that as a gentleman he looked ahead, not emphasizing this phone call too much and instead emphasizing the new opportunities that the life he would have reserved for him after being freed from Bond.

the problem was that Casino Royal its suppose to be the first bond on the series so James Bond character must look younger and even if Pierce was awesome as Bond he was turning 50 and was a little older , but that was only part of whole story they also want to portrayed Bond differently from the previous films , I think that this was very influenced by the Bourne movies(Bourne Identity and Supremacy with Matt Daemon ) , I think that movie influenced the producers to take that direction
@curiouscase0075
@curiouscase0075 6 жыл бұрын
The problem exists only in the rebooted film. In the novel, it wasn't Bond's first mission - it was simply the first in the series of Fleming's books. Yes, they reference how he got his 00 licence, but that's the extent of it. Bond isn't a rookie, so had they adapted the novel faithfully, it would have worked out a lot better.

Two years late to the party, I know, but the Cuban scenes did have an old-school, edgier espionage feel about them. At least the initial scenes before Jinx comes along. But even then, the writing of Bond's character still maintained that cynicism. Bond's scenes with Raoul were perhaps the best in the movie.

GoldenEye was a masterpiece. Tomorrow Never Dies wasquite bad and uninteresting The World Is Not Enough was better than it's reputation. Good characters Die Another Day might be the worst Bond movie ever after Moonraker (Those two are not worth watching) + Die Another Day features the worst theme song in the series. I'd rank Pierce Brosnan as the second worst Bond - just above Roger Moore Poor Brosnan. Poor Scriptwriting... :(

A lot of issues occurred when Kevin McClory (for the third time) claimed he owned the rights to James Bond and sued EON Productions. He lost, of course... but by the time it was all done and over with, nearly 4 years had gone by. This lead the producers into feeling that the only way to save the franchise was to reboot it with "Casino Royale"; and while Pierce was still willing to return, they feared he was now too old for the role. So, Barbara Broccoli called him up and fired him.
@recklessrocker1096
@recklessrocker1096 2 жыл бұрын
Apparently Pierce Brosnan wanted $30 million to return as Bond, and halfway through negotiations the producers changed their mind and decided to try to go with a newer younger Bond instead. Also with the Bourne Identity been recently released, the producers said the genre had changed and decided they wanted make Bond a more vicious killer. It would have been hard to change gears on Brosnan to make him that way at 50 so they simply didn’t renew his contract to start with a new actor.
@alonzotanner1226
@alonzotanner1226 2 жыл бұрын
@@recklessrocker1096 another story. That also makes sense. There’s been multiple accounts but I’m glad he didn’t play bond at 50. It was a huge mistake to keep having Moore play bond past his 3rd film. He was already way too old when he started playing Bond imo. Movies were also too comedic and way too much usage of stunt doubles too sheesh. Even Connery at 53 played Bond better imo. I blame that on Albert Broccoli though. In Die Another Day, Pierce was already showing signs of slowing down. The first 3 before it were really good though. He was a good bond imo. My favorite actually. Second favorite is Connery then Dalton.
@recklessrocker1096
@recklessrocker1096 2 жыл бұрын
@@alonzotanner1226 He's probably my third favorite behind Dalton and Connery. He's Quinton Tarentino's favorite as well. I thought Brosnan was a terrific Bond that was never utilized fully like Craig was. Brosnan could get dark and gritty, like parts of Goldeneye and the intro to DAD showed, but the producers wanted to keep Brosnan's Bond more lighthearted and comedic than introspective and brutal. They should have gotten darker with his Bond. They also should have given him a final great Bond film to let him stretch before Craig took over. Then again it might have been Pierce's fault in some ways since he wanted too much money. Overall his Bond was great while his tenure was merely ok IMO.
