Game 2 is why Serral is the GOAT. I've never seen Maru so thoroughly obliterated, that forward third base was such genius bait to get Maru thinking he had the edge when he denied it. Serral was just laughing when Maru committed so hard to deny it, knowing he had a sick 2 base lair roach timing with 2x contaminate to hit back like a sledgehammer. Congratulations Maru, you played yourself.

Man, I am absolutely loving 2023 Serral. Game 2 was clinical.

Excellent cast and excellent games. Game 1 was one of the best examples of high-level late game that I've seen in months. It is not an exaggeration to say that only Serral would have been able to pull off the technical engages he did in those fights. I don't think that even Dark could have beaten that late game Maru was showing. Also it deserves mentioning how quickly Serral capitalized on any mistake that Maru made positionally, incredibly decisive and cool-headed throughout. Game 2 was just such a well thought out build order from Serral, absolutely goated.

I feel that Game 2, Serral started the hatch at the rich gas as bait. It's the chess equivalent of advancing a pawn in one of the center files. The opponent, if he doesn't calculate properly, can fall for your trap where you win an exchange and end up with a central advantage. It feels like Serral did the same thing to Maru. He offered up a free pawn and Maru took it, not realizing that the loss of those 7 marines would mean he would be unable to defend the roach / ravager shove. That contaminate was just a brilliant planning move on top of a already amazing plan.

One thing to note (I haven't finished G1 yet mind you) that single cloak banshee opener evened the map control till the 10 minute mark, while picking off tumors. I think it was highly effective tbh.

As a Finnish Terran myself, this series was truly a blessing from the Gods of Starcraft! Awesome casting as always! With regards to Maru's Iron Bank, why do you guys suppose he builds those extra orbitals on the frontline like that instead of more safely in the main or second?

Maru brought game one way passed 30 minutes...so serral decided to punish him for it. Savage, but I knew serral would win game 2 with how much time was left in the video. Basically once this video broke 30 minutes I knew whoever won game 1 also took 2.

I know you hate "balance whine," but this will not be balance whine. I think we can all agree in the post infested terran era of StarCraft II, Zerg has been at a disadvantage late game. That's because the ghost has EMP, which is the ultimate anti-caster ability. Not even the protoss high templar feedback is as good, because EMP is AOE. Game 1 showed this. When circumstances were even, Maru was able to punish Serral heavily. Serral, knowing this was the case, never overcommitted to any engagement because of the Terran ability to snipe. And Serral put on a clinic for Brood Lord usage. Serral used spores and hydras to provide cover, and would launch volleys and pull back over terrain. This is how it is supposed to be done, and it's always frustrated me how supposed top Zergs like Reynor are unable to pull off this simple maneuver. I should have known if a Zerg player was going to figure it out, it would be Serral. Let's face it guys, back in the day there was so much whining from Terran and Protoss players about Zerg, and so Zerg late game got nerfed into oblivion. But was it that Zerg was so good, or was it that Serral is so good? It feels like the current disadvantaged state of Zerg is just to handicap Serral so he doesn't win ALL the prize money.

Here what I don’t understand, and someone correct me if I’m wrong. Maru has won a bunch of GSLs and no WCS, right? Serral, is the reverse. But, and here’s the part that gets me, Maru actually competes in the WCS, and often times makes it very far, like the grand finals. Serral, never actually competes in the GSL, correct? If Serral never even attempts to compete in Maru’s best format, whilst the reverse isn’t true, how can he be considered the best of all time? Wouldn’t that be like saying X tennis player is the greatest of all time because he wins Wimbledon consistently, but never even plays in Roland-Garros, or the US Open? And would Maru ever winning a WCS just automatically make him the best of all time, simply because at that point he would have won a bunch of GSLs and WCS?

oh look starcraft 2 is still poorly balanced garbage, plagued by match fixing to try to hide it. make units and attack has beaten terrans 13 years in a row has for 13 years in a row terrans have been designed to fight terrans and quite literally have no options against zerg or protoss as they can counter 100% of what you can do with anything they want... dont believe me, go look at the time zerg wanted to start 3 hatch before pool and terrans said well what about a few helions....so terrans got nerfed...NOT zerg were required to play less stupid NOPE terran nerfs... 1 base tank push vs protoss, easily defeated by make units and attack so protoss iq says what about instead we keep doing exactly what the build was designed to counter fast 2nd fast 3rd, all tech paths, double forges on 20 army supply at 10minutes and we just wait for buffs from blizzard...turns out protoss players are geniuses because that is exactly what blizzard decided to do. not require protoss to stop playing to lose and play to win instead...nope terran nerfs and protoss buffs will fix it. so now you have terrans getting 100 damage aoe spell nerfed 30 dmg nerf 15 dmg nerfed...mean while zerg have 120 damage aoe that cant miss preventing you from building half your units which forces you to play a slower weaker army than theirs and you lose 100% of games that they are not playing to lose. 13 years in a row of the game being the same poorly made dog shit. its like they are trying to compete with league of legends for biggest pile of shit ever made, unfortunately you cant compete with riot games that easily as they are far out producing blizzard in terms of pure dog shit in both quantity and lack of quality
