Pike Crush the Jig Fly!

This was filmed just before the end of the river season here in the UK. I decided to get out with some jig flies. Something i've not really done on the channel before. Jig flies can be a great alternative to larger hard baits and can give you great fun on a light setup!

I'm so jealous of the amount of nice streams filled with pike and pearch you have over in the UK! Good to see people do care about the fish in there and trying to keep them healthy!

Harry and Wattchn where are you guys from? I’m from the UK and have always felt lucky not just for our streams and rivers but for our canals my favourite venues for Perch and Pike.

great videos. you know what might be fun? pick up a vintage rod and reel, nothing too costly but at least 1970's and use vintage lures. Catch fish on them again. Just an idea. I for one would be very interested in this. Use nothing from present day era. I have a collection of fly rods, even split bamboo, bait casters and spin going back to 1949 or so. The reeels make some serious noise while fishing them but its fun

Best fishing youtube channel bar none. Love it. I find with a jig fly that the pike has to nail it for a hook up.

Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble setting a large single hook rig! :) Size 10 treble stinger would have landed the lot. Tempting. Great vid, as ever!

Excellent video, like the idea of using Jig flies for Pike with single hooks, not a fan of trebles have put single barbless in line hooks on all my lures, you have given me an idea I have plenty of Bass flies maybe I could use with a chebb weight. enjoy your videos, tight lines

I'm new to pike lure fishing. Have you ever tried fishing with a whopper plopper 70? I don't know if I'm fishing it wrong or if it's just not any good.

They smash the jig flys for sure.... you need to knock the barbs off them though as they can be a difficult to get out........ been buying a few off ebay n been smashing it with them...👍👍

How can you fish when it’s end fishing season?

In UK pike fishing season all year round.

@@kornizz5549 that’s not true.In England and Wales the close season for coarse fish( including Pike) is between March15th until 15th June inclusive. This close applies to all River and streamer mate.

UK is not only england and wales mate. In Northen Ireland (which is part of UK) no close seasons. You can fish pike, coarse all year round. No restrictions. But here is illegal to fish on a live bait but in england you can use live bait.
