I’d like to thank you for being a decent human being. This video is completely respectable. Even while witnessing such a tragic event you kept it clean and the video was even shot to be with the man and his family in mind and not for shock value. I want to thank you for checking with the family before sharing this and thank the family for understanding the value in this being shared. I’ll keep this generalized but as a Lineman/Foreman here in Florida since 06 I can tell you that though this video is tragic, it is a valuable tool. Unfortunately some of us have had to dead man down our dead friend or pole buddy and know and remember ever little detail. How everyone reacts differently to such events. How seconds feel like minutes and how minutes become life and death. Even with all the training and simulation in the world with regular frequency some will freeze up in panic or fear. Some become leaders and gain super strength. Bad thing is you won’t know till that time comes. Hopefully it never does. Trying to convey this to younger, upcoming lineman is hard and trying to tell your stories of the shit hit the fan moments to employees and have an impact is a hard thing. But this video really does just that. Even civilians have a hard time watching this and as a line worker and teacher in that industry it’s a terribly tragic video. So I think like me you probably understand the down thumbs this may get from those who don’t get the posting, recording or sharing of this. I could rant on and on but in all honesty I just wanted to thank you and the family for sharing this. This will save lives. This is a extremely valuable and rare tool to have in education in rescue and response in these event in our industry. Thank you sir. To the family, thank you for this as well and so sorry for your loss. He will always be a brother to all of us and this video will save lives no doubt.

Thank you. My best friend donald deverson had gone threw the same thing. So i understand the pain. Lucky for us he lived threw it. I have gotten death threats and a huge amount of neg feedback. I understand tho. This is hard to watch and raises emotional responses. I just delete them to try and keep this as pos as possible and block the vulgar ones. Thank you for your comment. I needed it.

That’s right. I know why this video exists and why it’s posted. I know why the family is okay with its posting and why you don’t just delete it. I hope others who may be critical of this may read that most of us in the industry will support this video being recorded and shared and why his family wants it out there as well. Its a sad and tragic reality caught on video, that needs to be observed, analyzed (in a productive and respectful manner) and shared and learned from. It’s necessary so that the men and woman who leave home everyday and get up on that line so that others may have jobs and homes with electricity to continue the advancement of human kind, may have a better chance at surviving such a terrible series of events. Thanks again. Thanks for the chainsaw carb tuning vids too. Feel like I can try to play with those adjustment screws again now and get it right...lol. Sub’d and liked.

easy to say when your not there. i feel bed for everyone that was working that day. im sure the rest of their lives will be full of regret. they will always remember this day and always kick them selves with what if. but honestly there is nothing they could of done different after this moment that would of kept this man alive. even if they got him down in 1 minute the damage was done. he was a good man that worked hard to support his family. even though i didn't know him i think of him and his family every time i look out of the front door of my shop. i hope they are doing well. if they ever need anything at all i am here and willing to stop everything for them. rest in peace Mr. Bradshaw.

Does anyone know what went wrong here? There has to be safety measures in place that prevent us from losing hard working Americans daily, and were they overlooked or neglected? I know safety measures don't always prevent a tragedy, but its a good foundation. We had a family member pass the same way when I was around 10 years old, I hope this industry didnt let all those deaths be meaningless by not learning how to protect others or prevent tragedy. This really sucks for this family! Definitely in my prayers!

This is terrible. None of these guys should be in bucket. And that second bucket isn't even set up in a work position, meaning they must've arrived after the fact. And it looks like I see an emergency responder around walking around when the bucket is still in the work position. By the time they arrive we should have him hooked up to our defib and be doing cpr. And the other lineman takes his time to remove his sleeves instead of getting out of that bucket and helping because they still haven't figured out how to tip the bucket. What a disgrace. And of course it's pike, pull in kill everybody. What a rat outfit, and we lost a brother, father, and a loving husband because of it, what a shame.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. The guy in the other bucket really risked his life by trying to move the wires out of the way protected just with gloves. I apologize in advance, but what I don't quite get is why they couldn't de-energize the lines, either at a switch or remotely even at the substation if necessary? One never knows if that could have changed the outcome but it could have made the rescue attempt a little less harrowing, I think.

The driver ran to back it out of the way, but EMS or Fire pulled right behind him. Is there any context/back story for this incident yet? It seems like there wasn't any real sense of urgency. I don't want to Monday morning QB this video. I know it's extremely important to try and calm down and assess the situation so you don't get hit by the primary and become a second casuality. I'm also aware alot of people would freeze in this situation. I'm sure there is more we don't see, but it seems like no one is trying to move fast. It appears maybe the crew didn't realize the severity of the situation? Either way, rest in peace brother!

Jon Willard - That is absolute BS Electrical contact at distribution voltages is not "done" -as you seem to think automatically A ton of training (at least for IBEW hands) goes into pole top rescue, etc. to bring the man down because you are NOT done - there are so many factors that determine the extent of injury from electric shock. The most important is to get them down and away from the hazard and start treatment. We have AEDs on multiple trucks at any work location (not necessarily every truck) we carry burn blankets and spend a significant amount of time on regular safety training. I am absolutely dumbfounded by the fact that circuit was not on NRA (Non-Reclosing) so that the injured man was still exposed to the hazard after the initial contact. The many lapses in basic line safety that are seen here are avoidable and certainly contributed to this tragedy.
