Over here in Mass.,we bowhunt for carp. or suckers, some have super elaborate boat setups, but I've read about spearing like, in outdoor life, and field and stream,, but this is the first time, I've ever SEEN it!!!,,been fishin my whole life, and it,looks like a blast!!!!!,,so different,,,,you should do a vid on set up, and how you do it, cause most of us have no clue,,,and its WICKED INTERSTING,,,,like the decoys, and hole cutting, and where, and how to set up,,,looks way exotic,,but it's been around forever ,,extremely INTERESTIN, FUN, vid,,,DEFINITELY wanna try it,,,but they wont let us around here,,,GREAT VID!!!!,,,,,,( by the way, I was born in Muskegon, should never have left, my Dad was in the navy, so we moved to Boston, when I was way young,,,,,had no idea. you could spear,,,but on the other hand, we got Cape Cod Canal, and 60 pound stripers,,,check my 30s, on my channel, but we cant spear em!!!!,,,,,,,,that's it,,,I'm comin back,,,LOL!!!!!!!)Thanks bro!,,,,!too cool!!!!!😎

Friendly advice, Your perch decoy is sitting uneven in the water (not level as all fish swim). That’s why fish are turning around at the edge of the hole. I guarantee there are more off camera that won’t come in. Add some weights to the head or re drill the attachment point a little further back and you will see more fish come in and they won’t spook as easy. Good luck✌️

Looks like a good time to me. Only a few lakes are open for ice fishing here in Nova Scotia. But none for spear. I've never tasted Pike,they must be good. Thanks for the vids.

Awesome! I've never seen this, but then I live in Texas where there is no ice fishing. Actually here in East Texas there isn't any water clear enough for sight fishing at all. It's all stained brown from the oak trees or it's muddy.

Yeah it’s a sucker minnow. It’s a lot of fun spearing a lot of work to get everything out but once you do it’s pretty relaxing till you have to pack up. Lk saint Clair is infested with pike it’s good to thin them out.

Spent many days Ice Fishing LSC,was almost a carnival like atmosphere on the lake with ice bike races, hot air balloons and snack trucks driving out the the ice.

Is your baitfish/sucker and weight tied to a rod? Or how is it mounted? Wondering what would happen if a northern or a fish you couldn't see came out of nowhere and nailed it. Ik that would be super uncommon in the cold water, just curious.

U should attach a sling to the end of your sphere. Where I live in Hawaii. I used to go spearfishing and we would use a three-prong spear with a sling attached at the end so it would give it more power an accurate. Try looking up spear fishing in Hawaii. It's something to think about.

Yes spearing pike you generally run two decoys so hopefully they come in slow.

Lk saint Clair is different it's Pike infested I set up for pike the perch where a bonus it was probably 4ft of water. I like to set up around weeds on saint Clair away from people.

It is if I go somewhere new I like to set up tip ups to learn where the fish are before hauling out the spearing stuff generally if your on a good lake it's not hard to see them just have to be patient.

I'm not sure what your looking at probably the decoy on the right it's a wooden perch decoy with a spinner hanging off the tail for attraction. The sucker live decoy on the left has a weight to keep him below the Ice about a ft above him if you don't use one he would just swim around the hole.

It generally doesn't take too long especially if it's sand it just floats back down to the bottom.
