This is my review of the Piko GE 25-Ton KLW#151, the first G-Scale locomotive that comes with Remote Control, Sound, and battery power.

Hi dear Christopher, I subscribed your channel, so I am number 9! Nice Piko GE 25 Ton! I have this interesting locomotive too and it is a very suitable and very realistic unit! You can see it running on my layout! like 27 - Greetings from Italy Fabrizio

Great review, how many hours do you get on a set of batteries? Say pulling 5 cars? And do you find recharging to be a pain now that you've had the loco for a while? I just purchased one since I like the idea of dead rail outside and I am wondering if converting to some small lithium battery packs that could be plugged in and charged might be easier in the long run? Thank you for doing the real live review and your layout looks great too.

I believe Piko says it should run about 4 hours. I haven't run mine 4 hours straight but I have run it many short runs here and there for many days. The batteries are easy to change out since you can access them from the front grill. I just have 6 charged aaa on hand if the ones in the loco need to be recharged and I just swapped them out. I believe you can easily change over to a small lithium battery pack as the loco takes 9 volts of DC power. The lithium packs may last longer than AAA batteries.

Are there more G scale trains with battery power? I have limited power in my back yard and really want to start up with g scale trains.

Currently only Piko has the 25-Ton Diesels with battery power from the factory. All other locomotives would require conversion. Piko did seem like they may expand their system to some of their other locomotives, like the mini-moguls. I have yet to see that announce though.

Unfortunately, I haven't found out what those colored rings are for.

@@christophersimmons7306 I asked another guy, his guess is being that there is 8 channels to choose from, and there is 8 rings. If you had many locos you would put a different color for each loco on the fob, but you would have to write it down if you have many.
