Mind blowing modeling and weathering. Love the automation. The only thing that broke the illusion for me was the instantaneous acceleration and braking. A pulse width modulation circuit to ease in and ease out the motor would fix that.
@TheFreaker86
@TheFreaker86 2 жыл бұрын
The technology they use for this is 20 years old now. This was implemented right at the initial opening of the exhibition. And since then it is used throughout the whole model layout. And they have grown and still are growing quite a bit. So changing the acceleration and deceleration would be doable I guess (they have done other much more difficult projects I would estimate), but doing so is a considerably big change in size.

That was the only standout for me too. Absolutely incredible composition and layout. With the right directional lighting I am sure many scenes here would be completely indistinguishable from real city settings. BRAVO 👍⚒️🏆🇬🇧

Absolutely mesmerizing! Between the miniature people in the vehicles, the vehicles moving and navigating turns themselves, and the humans walking among the models, i am delighted as to be so confused exactly where in this Gulliver’s world of modeling i really exist. We need more of this to keep our perspective in a crazy world.

The detail is amazing. I particularly like the fact that not everything is meant to look brand new--buildings, streets and even vehicles (Mercedes) . . . which in my opinion, gives the model considerably more authenticity and realism.

You would be really disapppointed with the outcome. Those car tires are really hard and the cars have no suspension. So footage will be extreme shaky.

I imagine you really wanted to show the car traffic on the layout and I have to say that is impressive. One thing I really like is that the cars and traffic are moving at believable speeds and without jittery movements or too sharp turns. Very realistic.

I went by myself, it was hard to get around and observe things properly. Still though, it was a great experience that I'll hold close for the rest of my life.

Fantastic display. I loved the way cars obeyed the traffic signals, including the left turns. My only criticism is that the vehicles start and stop too abruptly. We apply the concept of momentum our model trains, why not here?

I had the same thoughts, but my guess is partly due to the road vehicles' small size, with less mass and momentum makes them difficult to start and stop in a more realistic manner with their tiny motors and gearing inside. With trains I believe the "soft" stops and starts are done by varying the voltage to the motors, whereas it may not be so easy to do the same with these tiny self-contained vehicles.

This'll make algorithm to make them move more complex. With one single speed, it's easier to calculate what time this car take to cover a distance and program them accordingly.

The comment on slowing down the cars is accurate. Similar to DCC, the cars and trucks could match the scale motion. Otherwise, extremely nice!
@Patrick94GSR
@Patrick94GSR 5 жыл бұрын
Probably not feasible since all the vehicles have self-contained power supplies instead of a large power supply sending power through tracks with the DCC signal encoded.

I could totally see 2 warehouses side by side just filled with a city on one side and a city on the other with farms, residential and commercial areas throughout the building and railways commercial industrial and residential and inner city and even a cave hallway to show subways and stations. All animated base on an a 24hr clock system to show traffic as reality is and highways that are quiet at points in the hours and congested at peak rush hours. The busses can be housed in their bus station and cars can be housed in parking garages until its time to travel from one city or town to the next. Like a real life SimCity game. It can be opebed to the public like a museum of art/miniature art.
