It wasn't that. The show just wasn't advertised. I saw one ad 5 years ago a year before the show premiered. I had ZERO idea the show was a thing. I thought it was a Netflix running show when I watched it. It goes in the my favorite shows of all time list easily. Fighting was untouchable. Story was also never boring not even s2 or s3. It felt like I had just watched the pilot every episode and was hooked and the only other show to do that to me is suits(until s4) or of white collar.

The Gift makes you a different fighter, and some are stronger than others. Which explains why the Master is normally stronger than Pilgrim, but as soon as they both go Dark, Pilgrim becomes stronger than her.

She had more knowledge and control of the power than most and that should have made her one of the strongest with or without using it. Thats the shows downfall. Killing the likeable ppl. But it was for the suspension of him actually finishing his goal or getting stopped sense the master was seen as the most powerful character before pilgrim but I reckon it would have been way better if the master teamed up with the black lotus and everyone else to lunch an attack on pilgrim and the final battle being her with all of her past acolytes even the old crazy auntie with the gift and then using the powers and rare abilities that came with it such as the telekinesis, that pushing force thing, and the mind manipulation/dreams and telepathy

Pilgrim is using Sunny's son's gift. It was established in the show that Sunny's gift is the most powerful, so it shouldn't be surprising that it manifests in Pilgrim. Also, Pilgrim is not a novice. He'd obsessively studied the gift since he was a child. He can also do things the Master couldn't, like turning of the gift with mere chants.

Killing machine? Hes just a sheep following whoever he can like he has always done. Following Sonny almost following Quinn or some girl he has a thing for. His powers added to his lack of ever being a unique person who stands on his own or a true leader has turned him from a stupid ass kid following everyone to a complete douche and I blame the writers for ruining what could have been a great character development. They made him so unliked they ended up killing him. Now they end the dark one ark never really explaing how the dark ones ended the world or how there powers even work. I mean it seems like science or using science to unlock some natural power we have or using it to give us some power but not really teling us wtf the power really is. Now they lead into a new season and its a great evil once again which turns out to be guns? Give me a fucking break with this. One of the things that makes the show interesting is they use no lame ass guns they fight by the blade. I swear the show is just heading to the gutter. Pilgrim was such a lame ass villain and now this. Fuck that.

She could beat Pilgrim toe and toe but The Pilgrim has more superior Dark Power. I think all of these story focus on "Dark Power potential" and some of chosen have more talent to control it. like Aang and Fire King Ozai. Ozai has more experience fighting skill and he has abillity to control fire element superior than Aang, he also got buff from comet to raise his power in tremendous level still he couldn't beat Aang in Avatar mode.

To add to your point but play devil’s advocate, the gift was never Pilgrim’s to begin with. I don’t know where I got this information from, but I assumed he was so powerful because his gift came from baby Henry. Pilgrim could control the gift in others, and although he was powerful using the gift he “stole,” that power was rejecting his body and he was becoming more unhinged, compared to the calm cult leader he was prior to the gift. I love that we can still have these discussions about the show. Still miss it.

Exactly she should be the pinochle of Martial arts and dark abilities board-line unbeatable because she is the master spent years training and no telling how much she knows it was bullshit she lost and after she died my interest in the show also died

Well don’t forget that Pilgrim has been taught lessons on the dark gift his whole life. He and Sunny were made to be the pinnacle of the unity between humanity and the gift. For all the master’s time at the monastery she never had Pilgrim’s resources from Azra.

In all fairness, Pilgrim was trained to fight alongside but especially _against_ The Gift from when he was a child. It grants a significant power buff to anyone, not just the guys who understand it or had it longer. The Master hadn't been touched that entire fight until Pilgrim turned off her gift, so give him some credit.

MK had one of the best character development because when the series began we saw him like a innocent young boy who wanted to find his mother the only person he loved ,then when he knew tilda he had the dream to escape from the badlands with the help of his mentor sunny who also was a father/brother figure to end like a antagonist thanks to his darkness and pain, but in the final fight we saw some regret of him when he stabbed tilda

Here is another who watched the show with his feet and not with his head. Heuuu Piligrim is not a normal dark, his ability is much higher than an ordinary dark in the same way MK is or Sonny is or minervea. Their capacity is much more boosted than the ordinary dark. The master must have been a dark ordinary who has trained enough for over 100 years and who has acquired the level she has now. I doubt that the master in his beginnings could compete with the beginnings of Piligrim, Minerva, Sunny maybe even also MK. It can be seen that Piligrim was already sufficiently powerful at the base even though he had just acquired this ability.

pilgrim in some ways was "experimented", we had to remember that he studied the gift, example whe he "Turn off" the dark ones withe azra language and the fact that he knew how to use his powers without troubles

Not really. It’s Pilgrim’s (Henry’s) Gift that is stronger than hers. The Gift makes you a different fighter and some are stronger than others. And also how MK was able to kill all the abbots by himself, because his Gift is stronger than theirs.

The first thing that fucked me up about the show, was the poor potrayal of the other barons. They should be much much stronger, but they were just builded up charaters for Nothing (expect widow & Quinn).

She was called the master because she led the monastery, it because she was the strongest person in the world. Pilgrim was trained his whole life to understand and control the gift so by the time he actually became a dark one he already had complete control of his gift.

C K Well first of all no, Sunny did not really beat Pilgrim, they landed a fairly equal amounts of hits on each other and Sunny was the one who ran away to grab weapons in the middle of a fair fight as soon as he got a little overwhelmed, which forced Pilgrim to fall back to his Gift. You should know that the Gift makes you a completely different fighter and that there are Gifts that are stronger than others. Example : MK would’ve got his ass kicked by any of the abbots if everyone was in normal form in the general melee before Pilgrim vs Master. But since MK’s Gift is one of the most powerful ones, he was able to easily kill like 10 abbots all by himself. Same goes with Pilgrim vs The Master, when they fight, it’s clear that the Master is waaaayyy above Pilgrim’s league. But as soon as they both go dark, they are suddenly closely matched and the Master has a lot of trouble keeping up with Pilgrim. That’s because Pilgrim is using Henry’s Gift, which is a lot more powerful than the Master’s Gift, which also explains why she wasn’t able to just turn it off like Bajie can do. The Abbots are using some kind of Chi hand movements technique to disable one’s Dark Gift and it seems to be affected depending on how strong the Gift is. Here’s an example: when Bajie did the thumb technique for the first time on Cyan in season 2, he did not turn off the Gift, he just paralyzed Cyan for a short time. But when he did it in season 3 against the Harbinger, he turned the guy’s Gift off. That’s because Cyan’s Gift is extremely powerful and cannot be turned off using this technique, but it works on the Harbinger because his is not as strong as Cyan’s. So it makes sense that the Master was not able to do a Chi technique on Pilgrim because Henry’s Gift is too powerful for her to disable it. But Pilgrim uses a different technique, in fact not a technique but a power that was ‘’given to him by God’’ it’s a unique ability he has that grants him 100% probability to turn off someone’s Gift regardless of how strong it is.

Pilgrim used the gift when HE himself was overwhelmed not the other way around. The MK point is a good one although MK was one of the first to master his gift where other abbots could not. MK was also able to fight abbots on his own without the gift if I recall so it wasn't solely gift that gave him the edge. The jump between MK and the abbots is much less than the jump between the master and pilgrim after he awakens.

C K I don’t get your point about the weapons. The only time Pilgrim got overwhelmed is when Sunny pinned him on the wall, but then Pilgrim laughed and easily got rid of Sunny by throwing him through a wooden pillar. So Pilgrim was not really overwhelmed, he was able to get out of the situation anytime he wanted to. Sunny then decided to grab weapons because he couldn’t beat Pilgrim. The addition of weapons in a fair hand to hand fight forced Pilgrim to fall back to his Gift. For me, Pilgrim won this. No MK was not the first to master his Gift, very far from it. He was still a novice when he left the Monastery, he wasn’t able to control his Gift before season 3, while the Monastery was already filled with trained Abbots (all the ones in orange were able to control their Gift). MK was only able to hold his own against the abbots in season 2 because he had a sword while they were bare handed and he would not have survived if Bajie and the other novices who couldn’t control their Gift weren’t there. If you watch the fight again, he was struggling and was pretty much getting his ass kicked. I don’t get either your point about the jump between MK and he Abbots compared to the jump between the Master and Pilgrim. It’s pretty obvious that Pilgrim won because he was using Henry’s Gift, which is even stronger than MK’s, and because of his ability to turn off people’s Gifts.
