Everyone sounding very calm and collected leading to the best result in the end. Love the Diamondstar update 'he's on the wing and looks alright'. Cool as a cucumber 😁

Outstanding airmanship , so many houses , Lower Azusa Rd mostly busy , aircraft intact, great decision 👏🏻 I’ve never heard of El Monte tower so busy ✈️👍 it is good to see the reservoir full of water

I was expecting the plane to be tore up or be floating in the water... when it appeared to be parked on a flooded ramp from the rescue video I was like 0.0 lucky outcome for sure!

I'm guessing the helicopter rescue conversation went a little like this: Pilot: It's not deep, I could just walk. Rescue: Nah, this is more fun, plus I need the practice. Pilot: Noice! Alright let's do it!

The reason the controller asked for real world is because pilots practice engine outs all the time. Second the water is the safest place in busy housing areas such as his location depicted. Great job to the pilot and the controller for fast emergency response.

Dreadful comms. "I got an engine out situation" when what he actually means is, Mayday, Mayday, Mayday 3HV engine failure. And as for the controller asking if its 'real world'? WTF?

Premiums must’ve got too expensive and he needed to show them who owns the plane.

I'm sorry, why did he need a helicopter airlift from 2 feet of muddy still water? I GOTTA know.

El Monte has a lot of flight training traffic so he wanted to make sure it was the real thing before rolling FD.

@@instant_mintPower off 180's, simulated engine failures are a thing, especially at airports heavy with flight training.

Ditching in the water has some really good survival rates. Plus im assuming a lot of houses in that area so not many landing options. Pilot did good not trying to force the airport and kept people on the ground safe.

Actually appears to have landed on flooded ramp.

@@broker5002 Yes, looks like a shallow overflow ramp for the reservoir. Densely populated, residential area around airport so the very best alternative available to him. Plane likely sitting in no more than a foot of water or less when it came to a stop.
