With all due respect sir, what is needed is for Americans to act like Americans and retain the proper perspective on the situation. The protesters/rioters are NOT terrorists, they are NOT being funded by foreign investors, and they are NOT threatening the lives of Americans. You seem to be conflating BLM and the riots with NAZIs and ISIS. That is both offensive and frankly ridiculous. Whether you like them or not, whether you approve of their message or not, BLM members and other rioters are every bit as American as you are. There are not degrees of American. If you were born in America, you are an American, period. As an American you have every right to demand the same rights and freedoms that other Americans enjoy and to raise a fuss when the system becomes corrupt and starts to overstep the boundaries of its authority. The social fabric of the nation has changed. The belief in a wise and benevolent authority that all civilians must obey was wearing thin by the time Gen X entered adulthood and it has gotten progressively weaker in the next two generations. In a truly free country with a truly free population the people themselves decide what powers a legitimate authority should have over the lives of the people. A majority of Americans feel strongly that the current militarized police force possesses too much unchecked power over the lives of civilians. Most Americans are aware that the "War on Drugs" that led to the current untenable situation was based on a whopper of a lie told by a corrupt Republican President to silence the voices of the Democrats, liberals, and African-Americans who were ruining his chances of re-election. Richard Nixon crafted a threat out of thin air and sold it to the public to secure re-election. He was eventually found out and forced to resign but not before enacting a slew of laws that violated the freedoms of millions of Americans. Those laws and policies have been devastating the lower income communities ever since. They have destroyed the family structure by locking up thousands of young men for a victimless crime that should never have been criminalized in the first place. In the 40+ years those laws have been in place they have turned local law enforcement into a hostile army that treats American citizens like enemy combatants in their own communities and often in their own homes. There is nothing remotely justified about the "War on Drugs" or the militarized police tactics being used to continue fighting the war. Drug use has increased every year since its inception. It has cost tax payers billions and destroyed the trust between vast segments of the urban population and the police. As a result, police officers face a much larger threat of being killed and have far less cooperation and support from the communities they actually work in. The need to correct the situation has been argued over and over and over again to no avail. A small minority of conservatives relish authoritarian control of people who look different or live different lifestyles and hate the idea of individual freedoms and diversity. That same small minority is the reason that this injustice has carried on as long as it has and it is that same small minority that isharassed For the record, the only foreign influence that has been proven to exist through actual recorded evidence, confessions, and criminal indictments (NOT conspiracy theories spread by anonymous internet trolls) is the Russian owned Internet Research Agency that impersonates American citizens using actual stolen identities of actual Americans to create social media accounts through which they stoke civil unrest by spreading the exact rumors that you just cited. The evidence is provided in detail as part of the criminal indictments that were included as an addendum to the Mueller report. The only people being used by a foreign government to destroy America are those who believe the propaganda about violent protesters and are using it instigate a civil war. YOU are doing Putin's work, the rioters are trying to restore the America that was promised in the Bill of Rights to ALL Americans. Americans fighting for American freedom from corrupt authority is patriotic, being manipulated by our biggest adversary because of your own bigotry and fear is not.

@@mercedesb2299 Madam, I think we agree on the corruption that has seemed to have become the new normal while our Founding Fathers are screening at us "we told you so"! However, burning down privately owned businesses after looting them is really not the American way of revolution. This is how the Revolutionist Communist Party works a revolution, they destroy by looting, burning, and murder. In the recent past, they have burned down businesses in their own neighborhoods which have caused an awful lot of concern for some of the rational members of their family who have had to drive miles from home to shop in stores that weren't looted and burned. I doubt that all of the ongoing California forest fires were caused by careless cigarette smoking bears. Now the rioters are in the burn it all down mode, non-stop until it is all destroyed or an adult force takes charge and processes the revolutionary Communist Party for long prison terms. Howard Musselman I certainly hope you are not under the false belief that the MAJORITY of people p-r-o-t-e-s-t-i-n-g are rioters & looters. Indeed, there ARE those who will take advantage of ANY situation, the consequences be damned. THOSE people most definitely need to be arrested - NOT THROTTLED to DEATH. - and held over to be tried in a legitimate court of law. That said, THE.
