PiMIGA 4 on a n100 minicomputer

I am testing the wonderful Amiga distribution, PiMIGA 4 by Chris Edwards on one of those cheap N100 based minicomputers. piMIGA based on Debian stable. however after some more testing after making the video I found out Debian unstable runs better on the n100.
To fix the sound problems I run into. Download the newest preview of Amiberry 6.2-x BlitterStudios github page (or the final when it is done):

Another great video Proteque. I liked the additional text information you provided on-screen as you were talking That explained the issues you experienced with running the demos, and your additional testing. It goes to show the extra work you put into your vids. If I can make a suggestion: Although it's great to hear the background music and SFX from all those awesome Amiga games from BITD, it makes it difficult to hear what you are saying when you are speaking. TBF - Its not just you, I think this is something that a lot of KZfaqrs struggle with too. How are you recording your speech during the vids ? Is it a standard mic that records both you, and the computer ? Or do you record your voice and the computer as separate channels ? Please don't take offence at this, it's a relatively minor issue, I just thought I'd mention it I'm certainly not having a dig at you mate. Keep on making your vids, I always enjoy them. I like your chilled out, relaxed style. Take it easy.

Thanx a lot for the kind words, but even more: thanx for the feedback on the audio. I will keep that in mind i the future. I have the things I need to record individually from the computer on most machines, So maybe fading the computer a bit more can help on that problem. I will experience a bit in the next video. It is easy for me not to notice this problem as I know what I am saying and then it is easy to hear it aswell. So feedback like this is crusial to be able to improve. Again: thanx a lot!

almost incredible sysbench score! Those low power x86 cpus are a bit like a modern day 68000 or 68020. Decent or even very good performance without the need for a fan. I like them a lot and still love using an "old" one from 2015 (z8300) which is just as snappy on the terminal, editor and amiga-styled linux as the flagships.

I recently came back to Amiga after 26 years and your channel is one of my favorites so far for getting back into things I missed :) Now I am trying to discover the best way to "have" an Amiga without buying real hardware. Do you recommend a Pi5, some FPGA or some old PC for emulation? I've seen your PC Checkmate emulation machine but I cant find any video on your channel on what is inside the case and how are you running the emulation. Thank you so much for your work and keep it up!

Thatnx for your very kind words :) made my day. There is not an easy clear answer for this but I will try (I also made a video about this very topic a few weeks ago btw). First: I havent tried the rpi 5 but my guess is that it works very well for it as the rpi 4 allmost works very well :) I know Chris Edwards is working on pimiga for the rpi5 and I think that is going to work very well. But keep in mind that I havent tested. Personly I prefer one of this two: A PC running linux booting directly into the setup of my choise with fs-uae (or maybe soon amiberry as fs-uae seems to have stopped developement). This is my choise for powerfull Amigas when I want that A4000 with 060 faster than actually exists and rtg graphics card experience. This is what is in my checkmate case (an i7 based PC). For when I want to hit a very accurate experience I go for the mister fpga. That is very more on par with a real A1200 with 030/50 speeds. It is also a bit more work to setup tbh.

@@proteque I watched your every video but I still have doubts. This is why I ask not because I'm lazy :) I watched when you prepared your overclocked Pi4 build with amiberry and this is why I guessed that Pi5 will be even better. Let me be clear: I would really like to have all amigas (A1000 to A4000) at my disposal along with all possible upgrades to test as I have now in WinUAE but to start it from boot like Amiberry or whatever. I would like to know what kind of PC specs are you recommending (cpu, ssd/hdd, ram ammount) for PC/Amiberry build. Does it have to be newer PC or a few years old hardware would do? How does the PC/Boot Amiga compare to FPGA or Original Amigas in your opinion. I am sorry for asking you all of this but I joined many Amiga discords, forums and groups recently but no one is capable giving me straight answer on all of this. I trust your judgement and this is why I bother you. I have A1200 but it is heavily damaged from battery and capacitor leak after sitting in my old home basement for 20+ years and I don't have a specialist to fix it for now. I can try to answer as precise as I can from what I have tested. I have a second hand one I bought with a 5 years old i5 in it. It has 8GB of ram and a sata SSD. That runs fs-uae perfectly and would be a very cheap way to get a good setup. This is one of those hp elitedesk computers companies used and now sells cheap on ebay. Small and easy to hide away as a bonus. Regarding boottimes into amigaos. About the same on PC and fpga. Ay least with a lightweight linuxsetup.

One of the reasons I didn't use a pi for the longest time was because of the weird orientation of the ports. I got a DeskPi Lite, and while it's a little bigger now (something I actually like), it's made the ports a lot easier to use as a desktop machine. Worth checking out if you can get one.

Never heard of the DeskPi Lite. I will for sure look into what it is. This N100 is a bit of a spider web with ports all around it as well. not a big fan of that.
