I got my license at 28. I was so nervous to drive to work every morning that I would take the long way, on streets instead of jumping on the freeway for a few months. Till I worked one morning on a holiday weekend. I noticed there were barely any cars on the road. I pumped myself up, & it was go time! I was so proud of myself. I am now 36 and enjoy listening to podcasts on the road 😊

Got my license at 20, and recently my own car at 25. Everyone has there own little path, and your car looks amazing ❤

I got tired of getting driven around and waiting for my husband 🤣Growing up in Cleveland I never needed a reason to hurry and get a license because of the public transportation system however when I moved to the Nashville and had a child and a husband I started to see how I needed a license more and more🤣 Anywho everyone’s journey, needs and reasons differ but it’s never too late to take pride in your personal achievements. So happy for you! Driving is like a form of personal freedom.

My 1st car at 16yrs old was a stick shift Volkswagen Jetta. Funny, I'm not sure if I can drive a stick now. I think the reason for the car sickness in passengers is that the driver can see the terrain of the road, every turn, hill bump etc so it registers mentally that you're going to hit and maybe prepares you physically to brace for it, however passengers aren't paying attention to the road so the unexpected change in the smoothness, speed, etc causes discomfort because they aren't prepared. But I know I personally just didn't like riding in cars closer to the ground, so I would try to remember to bring lemon water to calm my stomach until I got used to it.

Being a Californian, I was first taught to drive by my Mom at around age 13, on the back roads of the Central Coast of CA and the HUGE regional airport parking lot. Back in the day, drivers ed. was part of our high school curriculum. We had the driver "simulator" trailer's and, after passing that portion of the training, we hit the road in some really snazzy cars, with the instructors. Got my permit at 15.5 and my first license at 16. Been a bad ass driver ever since! Fast forward....My Mom-in-law back in Chicago would only let ME drive her around in her prized car cause, I'm that good!!! She was amazed that I learned the layout of that big city and didn't grow up there.😁🚗🚗

I got my permit at 17 and did not want to be that person that had a license without a car. Got my first car at 27, an Infiniti Q50, not my dream car but I am so grateful. So, so, grateful to have my own whip. No more waiting for trains and buses and walking in terrible weather. No more cabs or feeling uncomfortable even when friends and family ask if I need a ride. God is awesome. Got my license two months after i got my car. But my dream car is actually what Adrienne’s driving and we’re both 4’11. So happy for her 💛💛💛🥰

Tip for motion sickness in cars : Put a penny at the bottom of each of your shoes (before getting in the car). Worked for me as a child, until I grew out of it. Good luck! 🙏🏽

Girl!! I've been driving for exactly a month now at 28 and I do exactly the same. I put the navigator on, my music first, I make sure to choose my lane with time if I know there's an exit I need to take, I keep my new car extra clean, wash it weekly, etc. 🤍🎉

Oh Adrian...so proud of you. I almost gave up on driving years ago and i am glad i did not. Listen I only started using drive thrus because of the pandemic. And my poor rims get scratched every now and then, My dad and husband makes fun of me but Im like whatever at least i dont get tickets or get into accidents. I’m a New Yorker and got my license at 21 but didn’t get my own car until I was 34. Driving is the best thing you can do. Many of my New York friends don’t think they need to learn how to drive, but you never know where life will take you. Sidenote, being too close to the steering wheel is unsafe. I hope she finds an adjustment that works for her smaller stature.

Back in 2008 when I was 23 years old that’s when I started learning how to drive my auntie had realize she’s doesn’t like me taking public transportation at night coming home from basketball practice at the time, following year in 2009 at age of 24 I had failed my drivers test 3 times due to i didn’t know how to parallel parking, eventually I finally past and just 3 months later my auntie gave me a black 2004 Chevy Tahoe I definitely love it and i gave my auntie a big huge hug for buying my first new vehicle and Adrienne if you do read my comment let this be a good inspirational story for you since you started driving in your mid 30’s, I’m very proud of you I hope you enjoy your Range Rover it’s absolutely awesome and fully loaded. 😊

Im 36 and going for my exam next week. No car planned, but definitely down the line after I pass my exam.

I’m 31, and my driving journey just started this year. I actually did things backwards 😅 I got my car in April, was able to find affordable insurance in July and finessed the company into giving me the insurance without a license 🤭, and then I took my driver’s test in August and passed. I drove without a license for over three months. Risky but it was worth it, because I was able to teach myself without anyone nagging at me and got over my anxiety in the process as well.

So I got my driver's license when I was in high school so I have been driving for along time. I m 32 years old will be turning 33 on October 27th 2023. Any way my first car was a Toyota camery the color was tan. My second car was Toyota corolla, then I had a Chevy cobalt then I had a entanra but I traded in for a 2019 jetta. So I had 5 cars so far but just love my jetta and it's not red. But I love the black car Adrienne. It's nice!! Sweet!!

I got my license at 17 my dad bought me my first car about 6 months after it was a brand new Mazda CX-7 I loved that suv so much. I had it until I was 29 when the engine or transmission went out. I wasn’t paying to find out what was wrong with it. It had 224,000 miles on it. Soooo many memories in that car.

Another NYC girl here who got her license at 21 and saved all my coins to get my first used car at that same age too. Prior to that was taking public trans to LI for school 5 days a week. If that weren’t the case, God knows when I would have gotten my license. A lot of us get it late here, compared to other regions where 16/17 the process starts. & good choice not fixing the rims just yet! Your skill will build over time so a few boo boos may come. Alsoooo I used to drive that close to my steering wheel but someone told me that I could be dangerously close to the airbag if it ever were to deploy, I still sit close but I lean my seat back!

Typically when you flash your high beams they are trying to ask you to pull over and let them pass. I still do it when I’m driving in the fast lane. I don’t do it excessively I just let them know they need to get out of the fast lane

1:08 She says safety first, but driving too close to the wheel is unsafe if you get into a car accident and the airbag goes off. The pressure of the airbag can cause serious injuries. Even if you are a safe driver, things can happen.

I know this because my Dad is a mechanic. Besides damaging the look of your wheels you need to know that you are grinding off or shaving material off which over time will throw off the balance of the wheels so you would need to get your tires balanced and aligned. Also, sitting too close to the wheel is more dangerous if you were to get into an accident but you are also short so I don't think you can be too far from it lol

They had road rage and was trying to intimidate you Adrienne. The same happened to me, except I was driving on the expressway in Atlanta, going a little above the speed limit in the fast lane. Apparently I wasn’t going fast enough for one driver. Instead of them going around me, they sped up and got in front of me and slammed on breaks on the expressway! They deliberately tried to make me hit them from behind. They didn’t care that they might be injured, they wanted to injure me. When I safely moved on around them, they followed behind me for a good while. Probably the scariest experience I’ve had driving. I love the car! I don’t blame you for the excitement!

I get the excitement about a new car. I'm from NYC too and you know no one had a car, and if you did it was a big deal! I got my license at 27 and my first car at 30.

The high beams behind you is either so you go faster, or so that you change lines so that they can bypass you. A lot of New Yorker drivers are rude like that. Please be safe, always pray before driving anywhere I would add the fog lights if it already doesn’t have it. Especially the one in NY. There is also a feature that melts off the snow and ice, especially for winter days. I would personally get the mud flaps too.
